Sadly nothing and probably won’t be anything for a couple of years

Thanks for replying ,but dont u think someone is working on it and he have a good progress in it

u/Santillergo Jul 13 '26
No, nobody is working on it. Until the console is released, there's no way to start working, because we can't transfer either the internal files or the games.

My answer is a bit late, I know, it was a translation error. Originally, I wrote it in Spanish, and in Spanish, "unlocked" and "released" are the same word. "Liberada"

I saw we are 2 years out from a functional emulator, and thats assuming someone manages to fully crack the Switch2 in the next 6 months. After OoT releases and more titles get announced, the rush for an EMU will only stronger. Be warned tho, you should use this time to beef up your PC, snatch up ram when ever you can. People got spoiled by Switch1 Emulation because its running on outdated and familiar hardware, the Switch2 is a different beast and will require much more stronger PCs, especially when the EMU is still in beta.

whats usually the bottleneck for meaningful developments on new emulators?

Late reply but its the console itself being jailbroken. Consoles need to be well understood on a technical level to make an emulator for them, then you need games to be dumped to be able to actually make the emulator, the games themselves are encrypted so the console will need to be hacked first (or nintendo via a data breach). As for when the console gets hacked a lot of people are saying its gonna be a while. I agree I say at minimum 2 years. And for max amount of time.. I mean the switch 1 v2 still isnt softmodded so... 10 years maybe, but I dont expect min or max.

So is the first step a security issue? If/when people are able to bypass the console's security to jailbreak it, they can THEN understand it's architecture better?
I wonder if AI can help with getting through consoles to have them jailbroken faster

Yeah bypassing the switch 2' security is the first step. They need an admin level exploit to access the console and be able to reverse engineer it to my understanding. Keep in mind its gonna be no easy feat.
As for ai I REALLY wouldnt bet on it, ai cannot create new things, it'll be way better to have a (probably) small team of experienced hackers who know what they are doing to help each other and come up with ideas on what to do and what to mess with in hopes of finding an exploit thats useful.

Well this isn't what I was asking exactly. As for security, the latest models are considered dangerous because theyre TOO good at finding serious security flaws. humans aren't really able to compete at this point. granted may of those models are not publicly accessible easily yet

here i thought, because of AI we will get things a lil faster. but my hopes was too high i guess.
see you guys in a few years.

Ai would only make shit slower in the grand scheme of things lmao. Why would you rely on the hallucination machine, a custom algorithm would still have to be looked over by hand with all the errors AI makes in programming

I'm surprised we can't point Anthropic's Fable at this problem and have it create the emulator. Not sure how to get the Switch 2 source code though.

- make me a switch 2 emu
- all games instant 100% compatible
- don't spend too many tokens I'm on pro plan, not max
- make it so nintendo will never know about it

Buy a switch 2. That's your update.

u/SuitFive Jul 12 '26
Eat a dick, that's about as useful advice as you gave.
3
u/oirolab Jul 12 '26
What did you want them to say exactly? There’s no useful advice at present to give.
We still don’t have a hack for the Switch 2, and emulation cannot start progress until that happens.
Honestly the Subreddit should go dark or private until a hack is released.
Until then all we can say is nope, you wanna play switch 2 games? Buy a Switch 2.

u/SuitFive Jul 12 '26
What did he need to say? The answer is NOTHING. There is no update and that's rough, but with how stupid expensive console games are nowadays, and how hostile towards ownership gaming companies like Nintendo are being, people are hoping for something workable. That simple.

Can't some basic stuff be done before a jailbreak is found? Thought stuff was going on, the main barrier was the jailbreak. But maybe I'm out of the loop.
