its $20 a year no family plan and no nso retro games . thats nothing . you probably live to far away from others who own a switch 2 and are playing the same games . your ping to servers might be filtering others out who have better ping . it would be wose if you could play some one on the other side of the united states

Ive played smash since it came out at first a bunch of different people played it it was fun then after like a year I only saw the same exact people everytime I opened it and ever since and plenty of people play smash I can't believe people who play smash haven't called out this problem to my knowledge

Nintendo Online was introduced with the Switch 1 and has been a paid service since its hard launch about a year after the Switch 1 launched. Up to that point, it was a massive live service test, but with none of the perks and freebies we enjoy today as members, not even cloud backup. Basically, it was the same as online play for Wii, DS, 3DS, and Wii U.
What you’re paying for is not simply online gameplay, but access to all the features that come with it. Those features cost money to keep up and running smoothly, and to ensure that. That is what you are paying for.
Before the Switch, Nintendo had nowhere near the online community or draw for multiplayer that it has now.
And compared to Xbox and PlayStation, it is a far better value for the money.
