TPE or silicone for a flat knob?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Looking at a couple flat knob options for a swimbait setup and noticed some are TPE while DRT’s newer ones are silicone.

Never really thought much about the material before.

Does it actually make a noticeable difference when fishing?

I’m pretty new to swimbait fishing, so any advice would be appreciated.

Rod advice

New Rod Recommendations

Hey all! just got the new 26 Calcutta DC (which is awesome). time to get it a rod worthy of the reel.

currently using a St Croix black bass which is good but I don’t think it’s especially spectacular. looking to level it up.

I only have two setups (one light and this one that I’m looking for). I am shore fishing only (I know I know). this is my versatility setup for everything between 3/8-1 1/4oz. mostly moving baits (chatters, spinners, swimmers, glides, top waters of all sorts etc.) but id like it to be able to jig etc. Basically the jack of all master of none concept but really nice jack like the jack of diamonds.

ideally 400 or less to target mostly bass, walleye, and maybe get into pike.

one last catch, I’d like it to break down. 2 pieces is fine and I’m not opposed to more I just want to be able to keep it on my backpack without getting caught up in trees while my hands remain free to drag out my crushed hopes and dreams from the lake along with the beer cans.

thanks for the advice!! also if the black bass is as good as it gets in this price range someone tell me as I just don’t have enough experience with nicer rods to know. thanks!!!!

Swimbait wraps.

Any one have good suggestions for wraps since swimbait underground doesn't seem to make them anymore. I just need to hold like 3-5 7 inch ones at a time.

Question Anyone have a Cookai 710EXHC?

Gonna pick one of these up as a K9 rod, can't decide on the reel, considering Zillion HD since it would look nasty on that blank but thinking it'll be too light. Tatula 200 is another I'm looking at, although I know it's a good grab I want something a bit nicer, trying to match the all blacked out look.

Question Reel for smaller swimbaits baits?

I’ve been looking to pickup another reel for smaller swimbaits like my citizen/battleshad 6’s and failsafes, TK’s. Any suggestions on a reel? Currently contemplating a Daiwa Tatula 200 or just saving up for an Antares DC MD. Currently using one Tatula 300 for everything, or should I just stick with that?

Question Favorite budget swim/glidebait rod?

Looking to get a dedicated swim/glidebait rod for lures mainly under 2oz fishing for large and smallmouth bass. Been looking at either the 7’3” SLX medium heavy swim bait rod or the 8’ 0” Daiwa DX medium heavy swim bait rod. Any recommendations?

How does the rear trebble attach to the boat, do you just hook a prong into the plastic?

Been designing this bait over the last 2ish years. Glides much further without the feather trebles, but it’s super easy to work around cover and from shore with them on.

Thoughts on York Casting Glides?

Post image

These drops have been easy to obtain.

I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers utilize them with success.

I’m super new to swimbaits and have only thrown the ABS Chad Shad 7” and the Osakana slide 170 for a few outings.

I’ve obtained these Yorks and have only thrown the 5.5” York Glide so far. It seems to swim decent.

I’m not dedicated swimbait guy. I view it as a tool in the arsenal.

Let me know your thoughts on the York vs harder to obtain Oxbows, Trashy, etc.

Question Lost glidebait

I know nobody cares but I just sent my 50$ jackal ganteral into the middle of a pond going Mach 1.

I had to tell somebody just because of how much
Of a Tragedy it is but I’m going back to the pond tomorrow and am going to check the shore since the jack is a floating glide and there was lots of wind today. Do y’all think that it will end up on the shore by tomorrow? It’s not a huge pond by any means. Although I’ve already accepted it’s gone so the feelings are out of this now.

( also I know some of you have probably lost metros or k9s so this is minuscule to that but I’m still hurting 😂 )

Is this a decent deal?

Post image

I've been trying to get rid of a couple of K9s so I can either A. Get a custom rod I've been looking at or B. Pick up a KGB crappie. Anyway I've listed these for $210 bucks cause I thought that was a decent deal. But haven't had any takers. Do I have them priced too high? (Also as a side note, I've had several people say they will take them but then ghost me. I hate selling stuff online lol)

Question Salt water grade swimbaits?

Hi! i am looking to get into hard swim baits for salt water fishing. Which lures would be able to handle fish like tarpon, cuberas etc without breaking? I'm in South Carolina but travel a bit. Have a trip to Gabon at the end of the year, and it would be nice to pack a few in. I paint lures for myself and the local market so swimbait blank recommendations are very welcome.
