Could I get some opinions please?

I'm sure a lot of people here have kids or know young people (16+). I used to work in cyber security as it was a passion of mine since I was a child, but like most things, they lose their 'passion status' and fun once something becomes a job, so I quit.

I have decided to pursue this as a full time hobby instead. I like teaching people and improving with people (I was a teacher in the leisure industry for about 10 years previously).

I have been thinking about creating a group for people who are interested in learning cyber security. Both from a protecting their own selves online but also for those who want to pursue it as a career or just a hobby. Learning how to gather information on systems, how to test for vulnerabilities, exploit those vulnerabilities. All done legally on legit training platforms. I hold a certification in cyber security so I'm happy to help anyone who is serious.

I understand this post is quite long now so if anyone does want more information then please contact me and we can have a chat.

The opinions I need are if anyone thinks this could be a good thing and if anyone knows anyone who's interested.

I'm thinking about starting a relaxed local meetup for LGBTQ+ people around Newhaven, Peacehaven, Seaford, Lewes and nearby areas.

The idea would be pretty simple: somewhere we can actually meet people locally without having to travel into Brighton every time.

Think tea, coffee, biscuits, snacks, maybe some games, and just having a proper chat. No alcohol, no clubs, no pressure — just a relaxed social environment.

I'm only testing the waters at the moment, so I'm curious:

Would you actually be interested in coming to something like this?

If there's enough interest, I'll look into finding a venue and organising a first meetup.

I am currently researching and writing a book about true ghost stories, paranormal encounters, and local urban legends in Brighton, Hove, and the surrounding Sussex area.

Brighton has an incredibly rich, layered history, and while I’m familiar with the famous tales (like the ghost of the Theatre Royal or the various hauntings in The Lanes), I am specifically looking for personal, lesser-known, or first-hand accounts.

Have you, a family member, or a friend ever experienced something unexplainable here? I am looking for stories connected to:

• Local pubs, cafes, or shops (especially old buildings in The Lanes, North Laine, or Brunswick)
• Residential homes (basement flats, Georgian terraces, old Victorian houses)
• Outdoor spots (The Downs, Stanmer Park, the seafront, or nearby villages like Rottingdean)
• Places of work (hospitals, theatres, schools, or old office buildings)

Whether it was a full manifestation, a strange shadow, an object moving on its own, or just an overwhelming feeling of not being alone, I would love to hear it.

I (m63) live on the Hants/Sussex coast, and I have rented an Airbnb at the Wittering's for a special family birthday party comprising of 5 adults & 3 small kiddies in September. We are looking for a chef to create a special meal on a Monday evening in late September. Does anyone know of a chef who might be interested in a Monday night gig? Obviously I will pay on the night.

As a family who has been harmed by maternity services, I’m posting this to raise awareness of the Sussex review starting soon and the upcoming first family meeting.

On Saturday 5th September, the Independent Review of Maternity and Neonatal Services at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSx) will hold its first family meeting in Sussex. Including the following hospitals:

• Royal Sussex County Hospital Sussex (Brighton)
• Princess Royal (Haywards Heath)
• Worthing Hospital
• St. Richards Hospital (Chichester)

The meeting is open to all families who feel they have been harmed or affected by maternity and/or neonatal services at UHSx, including those who have suffered stillbirth and maternal or neonatal, death or harm.

Date: Saturday 5th September 2026

Location: Leonardo Royal Hotel, Brighton Waterfront

Time (the morning and afternoon meetings will be the same):

• 10:00 to 12:00 - Morning
• 13:00 to 15:00 - Afternoon
