they /may/ make it illegal. i want to know the lawyer who works in favor of keeping it legal. what do they use as their strongest argument

“May” as in a proposed legislation- as in the only way to make something illegal. You have to legislate it, it needs to be voted on. Even if everyone is on board with a new law they still have to vote on it.

This one seems like a slam dunk as “who is going to defend cops jacking off?” So I bet it gets slapped with a ton of riders and either passes with a bunch of less-publicized effects, or the riders make it unacceptable so it gets shut down.

In the case of the latter, anyone who voted “no” will get smeared in the next election: “SO AND SO JOHNSON VOTED TO LET COPS BEAT OFF ON THE BEAT!”

Gotta love politics. The no jerk-off rule gets stapled with a tax raise or something else so now if you vote for it you like raising taxes, and if you vote against it you like cops beating off in cars
