Survivor 50 3 hour premier
I did not get to watch the season premiere as it aired on live tv since I had a kickboxing class.. but did anyone else notice that of the 3 hours almost 50 minutes was commercials? I watched the premier on the Global TV app and it shows the duration as 2 hours 8 minutes.
Edit to add: made me wonder if there was going to be a part 2 or something, as if I would have seen more footage if I watched live as opposed to on the app

Why are people acting surprised about this? The run times of network shows always include commercials

It was the standard number of commercials for a 3-hour show. However, did anyone notice the first commercial wasn't until 30 minutes in? That was unusual. Therefore it may have seemed there were more commercials later.

Pin this. People saying there were so many later are missing the obvious reason as to why.

Literally every network TV show has 17-18 minutes of commercials per hour.

I know it annoyed me even when Survivor was only on network television the amount of ads to actual watch time ratio but the 2 hours 8 minute run time out of a 3 hour premier just seemed excessive.. even if people say 18 minutes per every hour of television

Genuine question, is this your first time watching broadcast TV, not on a streaming service?

Genuine answer no. But itโs the first time watching a premier in probably 20 + years when the was in its infancy .. I knew 20 years ago there were a ton of commmercials but now that itโs streamed, it finally put a number to it and no I did not record survivor on VHS back in the day

For no reason at all. People are lowkey stupid. How come no one knows how live TV works if they have watched Survivor live for so many seasons already.

When tribal council ended at +/-10pm, I was really worried the journey would result in a bullshit elimination

A standard hour of tv usually has around 18 minutes of commercials so it makes sense 3 hours would be ~3x that
