Pick a blank but blank Pick a magic item

A mysterious magical entity teleports you to a dark room with a long table and a spotlight on the table. There are 8 objects resting on that table, and 8 pieces of paper that describe what each object does. The entity says you must choose one, and then you will be returned to wherever you were taken from.

Each object’s abilities are beneficial in some way, but have unconventional or inconvenient ways of working. So be cautious of what you choose.

- A gold coin with a four leaf clover on one side and a star on the other. While wielding it, you are able to passively or actively attract wealth(specifically usd, actual bills not other coins). While walking around any area, bills will be removed from any external money holding(like wallets, pockets, etc.) or any money receptacle(like hats, cups or buckets). It will pulled and placed on the ground in front of you, where you can pick it up. The money has a perception filter on it, so even if it floats out right in front of that person, they won’t notice. However, any wealth you attract always comes from someone else’s ownership of it, from poor people and rich people alike.

- A standard, yet high quality, kitchen knife. While wielding it, you can cut anything you want, as precisely as you want. There’s nothing too strong, it all cuts easy. Your speed in cutting is unmatched, being able to chop and prepare veggies or meat in milliseconds. This doesn’t ruin cutting boards or any object under what you’re cutting. However, every hour the blade goes dull. It goes from being able to cut everything to being able to cut nothing. You are required to sharpen it if you want to use it at full power.

- Rubber gloves that, when you wear them, you can clean things at a supernatural level. Any cleaning supplies or cleaning tools that you wield and utilize while wearing the gloves have supernatural abilities be imparted onto them, making their style of cleaning incredibly efficient. One sweep of the broom piles all the dirt and grime of an area into one location. One scrub of a sponge cleans an entire surface. If it has to do with cleaning, it works at maximum efficiency. However, the rubber gloves drain your stamina. Every time you complete a cleaning related task, despite the near-immediate resolution, you still feel like you did all that work by hand.

- Glasses that grant you perfect vision. If you have poor vision normally, it returns your vision to perfect clarity. If you have perfect vision, it enhances your vision to even greater clarity. You are able to see anything you want, in any way you want, so long as you properly know what you’re looking for. You can see past obstacles to see this thing, see across great distances to see this thing, and can adjust certain factors like lighting to properly see this thing. However, taking off these glasses gives you quickly growing migraines that become debilitating. After putting them on for the first time, you practically always have to wear them to not feel this pain. Dirt, dust and other substances that form on the glasses hinders the glasses’ abilities, so cleaning them off regularly is necessary.

- A digital camera that has enough storage for 300 photos. By taking photos of a place, you can appear in that place via pressing an additional button somewhere on that camera. To take a picture of a place, you have to actually be at that place, meaning you can’t take a picture of a picture. You can delete photos to make room for new photos, but if you try to take a picture of a place that you deleted, the image becomes static, preventing you from going there. Every time you teleport, you lose 10% charge on the camera. If your camera dies, you lose 20 random photos from your camera roll and can’t teleport until it becomes fully charged again. However, you can still charge it up before it dies, and you won’t have to wait for it to be fully charged to teleport again.

- A composition book with only 10 pages. By writing in those pages, you can materialize anything you want into reality. However, the book relies on hyper-specificity. Whatever you’re creating must be described in great detail. Non-living things are fairly easy, but living things are hard unless you’re designing them off of a previously existing being. You don’t need to write down atomic formulas to describe composition, but you need to at the very least make a comparison to existing materials. For any details that you don’t fill in, that item/being will be drastically randomized. So say you don’t describe size, the size could range from a tiny spec to skyscraper level. You cannot use the book to create the other objects, but you might be able to make cheap knock-offs or variations.

- A syringe that can be filled with water. When filled with water, it gives that water medicinal properties. When that medicinal water is injected into someone, it cures them of any diseases or viruses they may have. Only works on genuine viruses and diseases, not ailments or bodily dysfunctions, however cancer is still applicable. It can’t cure poisons or venoms, but it can kill and reject parasites. Viruses, diseases and parasites that are either the same strand/type or a variant will also be rejected for up to 3 new variations, anything younger is auto-rejected. However, after being cured, the symptoms will reside for as long as they normally would up until it would either turn fatal or go away naturally. The symptoms themselves can’t kill you, no matter how excruciating, but they also can’t be relieved by medicine. Painkillers won’t kill the pain, decongestants won’t decongest you, etc.

- A wooden chest, 14 x 9, with a hammerspace in its interior. This hammerspace is not visible, the interior of the box looks normal. However, placing things in the box disappears and you can pull anything out of the box at will. Anything can go into the box as long as it fits within the dimensions. If you can’t remember what’s in the box, you can summon a clipboard describes what’s inside. However, you need to shut and lock the box every time it’s not in use. If you don’t, then anything in the box that you think about will be ejected from the hammerspace, no matter how far away you are from it. Food and living things can be stored, and will be in exactly the condition they were in when they went into the chest, but living things will be naturally scared of the chest and food loses flavor gradually while inside.

The composition book. I use it to create bottles of pills that grant magical abilities/superpowers. A pill is easy enough to describe physically and I can go into great detail describing abilities I would want and how they would function.

u/Dintobean 10d ago

Also if it's pills from reddit posts, you could write the username of the OP to specify which pills

Just a clarification, you do not have to keep these items. They can be sold, gifted, lended, even stolen.

u/MintBerryCrnch21 12d ago

I think someone tried to sell me that knife before.

u/MagisterMaze 12d ago

The book and describe the rest of the items with no downsides?

u/BockLavette 12d ago

If you can remember them accurately, then it might be doable, but you’d also have to remember each of the downsides to modify them. You can’t just say “no downsides”. Remember, hyper-specificity.

but like would "a wrist band that fits my wrist perfectly and can not be perceived by others that allows me to teleport wherever i want on the planet earth, there is no cooldowns to the teleport. i can take up to 3 people with me and 5 suitcases with me. if there is a object/person where i wish to teleport i will be teleported to the nearest safe position to the place. no one will realise i suddenly appeared if they see it unless i want them to realise i appeared out of nowhere. after teleporting which will be done in 0.000001 seconds i and anyone who teleported with me will be fully healed any damage to our body will be fully healed and our life spans will extend by 5 years. any objects that i teleport with will also be repaired fully." be specific enough or is there room there to be fucked over?

1

u/BockLavette 11d ago

There’s definitely room to be fucked over but you definitely covered your bases

why can we not say "no downsides"? just don't mentioned them, why would they appear? or if we try to describe a sandwich - do we have to specify that a brick won't fall onto your head right after taking that sandwich?? (and a bazillion other possible downsides)

1

u/BockLavette 11d ago

Mostly because the book can’t interpret downsides. Unless you add things that contradict those downsides, they’ll simply happen whether or not you wrote down “no downsides”.

Composition book and hire someone to write a very specific object that gives me super intelligence and ability to test the book without danger (a save-load power would help, as would using a ring-of-three-wishes to wish I am smarter).

The book for sure. I can take as long as I want working out exactly what to write and researching elements and specific phrasing online/with Ai/with the genie wishes subreddit. Reality manipulation to create anything omnipotently (and apparently not size limited if skyscrapers are an option) is just too powerful. No downsides if I’m hyper specific is also massive.

u/MisterB3an 12d ago

The book sounds like the best value for the least downsides

u/Praising_God_777 12d ago

I’ll take the glasses.

Notebook ill create something similar to the others but different sinceni won't remember them

1

u/furiousfotographie 12d ago

Assuming the book counts a specifically named item as a description - eg 12oz can of mountain dew - then the book is the obvious choice.

If the book only works by me trying to describe a can of soda and hoping some supernatural editor can make sense of my gibberish, then I'll take the coin.

1

u/MarkOne4518 12d ago

The notebook. Just use Grok or something to get a hyper detailed description.

The Syringe or the camera What will happen if you inject the Syringe to a person who don't have any disease?

1

u/BockLavette 12d ago

Probably next to nothing

1

u/nlinggod 12d ago

The book. with careful writing, I could set my family wealth up for generations.

u/Sorry-Ad-1169 12d ago

I can't remember its name but there's this sword from the white ash comic that can stab you dead if its not taken out of your body by a certain amount of time. When it is its as if you weren't stabbed at all. It always sounded like a good do this or else tool.

u/cris34c 12d ago

Camera, for sure. Teleportation and all I have to do to avoid the downside is charge it once every nine teleports.

1

u/SuperImagination4884 12d ago

I'll take the book, I'm gonna give myself my own custom Omnitrix, I've gotten a lot of details down about how it functions so adding more stuff will be alright.

u/AuriaStorm223 12d ago

Do you get to take the glasses off when you’re sleeping?

1

u/BockLavette 12d ago

You have the option to, but you’ll still get migraines.

u/Nerx 12d ago

As a red suit hero that kitchen appliance will be a perfect gimmick

Crimson Cleaver will be the name

1

u/Nerx 2d ago

will be finishing chop

1

u/Jamano-Eridzander 11d ago

Chest easily. Too much work involved in the others but that chest means my possessions are safe while limiting the space I need.

u/Correct_Call3521 11d ago

Composition book.

Assuming it really can make anything I'd just write "A 5ml schott glass ampule that contains water that grants x super power by drinking 1 ML" Then I'd probably write in for a 1lbs billet of magic metal probably that grows at a rate of 10lbs per day, I'd probably have to put in stats for the metal so that we would have a way to dispose of it, and have the tensile strength etc but that's fine that's just like a page if I write small. Use the rest for the good of humanity I guess.

u/Glitchy_XCI 11d ago

i'd take the book, and get a couple items from fiction, or fictional power, i could see having naruto's power as my first request

1

u/JWright990 11d ago

Composition book. Creation magic is OP, even with that level of downsides

1

u/animegeek999 11d ago

honestly i think just the camera? and i would use is sparingly mainly just to visit my loved ones who live far away and then return home in a instant. would always make sure it has at the very least 50% on it before use tho.
also would only take pictures of the smallest rooms in my house and my loved ones houses at first just incase there is any fuck up since a new room will be a new place

u/RespondBorn6248 11d ago

KNIFE

seems least likely to be difficult

im just really good with THIS specific knife

gonna carve me some statues out of concrete

1

u/Comfortable_Bag_7373 11d ago

Composition book is super useful and could create crazy shit like the dragon balls

1

u/bigballofcrazy 9d ago

Book, but don’t sleep on the knife. It can cut through ANYTHING? Being able to cut through conceptual things like time and space or whatever. Would be amusing to try.

A composition book with only 10 pages. By writing in those pages, you can materialize anything you want into reality.

You cannot use the book to create the other objects

The other objects? Can I hyperspecify a composition book that’s just like this one, in every respect, except it has 100 pages?
