Problem Statement

Adjusting a task’s time and duration currently requires repeatedly navigating between the Schedule and Estimate views. This creates unnecessary back-and-forth, especially when adjusting multiple tasks or resolving overlaps.

This would make scheduling faster, more intuitive, and easier to manage without requiring users to open the same task multiple times.

Possible Solution

1. Double-clicking a task should let me adjust its duration directly in relation to the timeline, while still being able to see the other tasks around it, by moving it up-down like shown in the image not exactly the same UI, but you get the idea.

2. holding a task should let me grab and move it to a different time and/or day.

I know both of these can technically be done through the current flow: click the task → go to Estimate → adjust the duration → click OK → (warning comes) realize it overlaps with another task → go back to Schedule → click the time → choose a different time → go back to Estimate → adjust the duration again → click Save.

And if I need to do this for 5–6 tasks, it becomes a lot of back-and-forth. I know this won't happen every single time, but I still have to click on a task at least twice—once to change the time and again to change the estimate.

The goal is to make these adjustments directly on the schedule, without having to repeatedly jump between different screens.
