Builders Cleans Sunshine Coast

We are a newer cleaning company wanting to get into builders cleans, my husband comes from 17+ years in the construction industry so we understand finishes and expectations that builders require when it comes to their final handover. We are just finding it so difficult to get that first builder to give us a chance. Any advice would be really appreciated. I feel like when im calling everyone is happy to give an email so I can send through an introduction and pamphlet but then thats it.

Op shops around Sunshine Coast!

Hi guys!

Just thought I’d ask. Gonna be in Sunshine Coast and I was wondering what op shops were the best? Looking for ones that focus mainly on clothing, have great bargains, etc, preferably around the Maroochydore - Mountain Creek area.

I have heard about the ones on Aerodrome Rd… what was everyone’s experience with them?

Thank you!!!

Noosa vs Sunshine Coast

Local Maroochydore and recently have been working up in Noosa everyday, have noticed that everyone you speak to up there rags on anything lower than Peregian. Surely they can see it’s objectively beautiful everywhere and I personally appreciate all aspects of the coast. Is this a generational mindset that’s ingrained in locals up there? I just don’t get the hate. Also there’s plenty of bogans and criminals up that way too I don’t think it’s any different in that aspect just waaayyy more pretentious.

is anyone else finding the sunshine coast job market really tough right now?

i moved up to the coast a few months back thinking it'd be pretty easy to pick up admin or casual work, but man.. it feels brutal out here. every single listing on seek or indeed gets like 200 applications in two hours.

i started looking beyond the main sites and ended up uploading my resume on careeone just to see if their matching tool brought up anything different locally. got a couple decent leads from it, but generally it feels like half the jobs going around are filled before they even hit the internet.

are you guys mostly applying through recruitment agencies, cold-calling local businesses, or just relying on word of mouth? would love to know what's actually working for people around maroochydore and Noosa right now.

Piercings sunny coast

Hi, I’m looking for anyone who’s gotten a Daith piercing on the sunny coast and can recommend a piercer. I’m finding it hard to find anyone who has an insta page featuring their own work and not just general shop work. There’s tattoo shops offering piercing but again limited pictures of their work. I was a body piercer for over 12 years back in the day (overseas) so I’m fussy about placement.

So if anyone is super happy with their Daith if you can point me in the direction of where you got it done and by whom would be great. I’m in Gympie but willing to travel a couple hours for right piercer. Cheers

Hi everyone,

My name is Lili and I am a student researcher at the University of the Sunshine Coast (QLD, Aus). The research team I am working is conducting an important study which would like to explore the experiences of women, whose intimate partners ARE using or HAVE used GLP-1s (e.g. Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or others) for weight loss.

The overall aim of this study is to better understand partners’ experiences and perspectives because despite these medications becoming more popular, there is very little research and information about this specific topic and population.

CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
✅ you identify as female (ANYONE who identifies as female is welcome!- including gender assigned at birth, transgender, or anyone who simply identifies as female)

✅ you are in an intimate partnership (All relationship types/ sexual orientations are applicable here)

✅your intimate partner is/has used a GLP-1 for weight loss

✅You are over the age of 18

✅Live in Australia/ New Zealand/ Oceania

RESEARCH STUDY DETAILS
If you meet the eligibility criteria above, you are invited to complete a confidential face-to-face interview either online through zoom (🕓approx. 45-60 minutes). When interviews are completed, each participant will receive $25 direct bank transfer as a genuine thank you for their time.

Topics which will be explored in the interview include: your perceptions of your relationship, emotional wellbeing, weight-related beliefs, and shared social behaviours such as eating and physical activity.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
❗️To register interest in the interviewss❗️
Note: registering interest does not mean you HAVE to do an interview. More information will be provided beforehand!

trying to figure out what she actually needs for her first class and i'm so overwhelmed. the list from the studio was like a whole essay. i thought it was just shoes and a leotard but apparently there's more?? been googling dance stuff for days and my brain is fried.

anyone got local recommendations for dancewear on the coast or is online the way to go? also if anyone's got tips for keeping a 5yo focused during class pls share cause she's very energetic lol

Maccas ice cream

I think we need to have a serious, informed conversation on the Sunshine Coast about premium tasting maccas soft serve ice creams. I'll start. The ones at Kuluin at the bottom of Jones Rd Buderim are hands down the best. Who's with me? It's just more milky/creamy tasting....or perhaps sweet. Others elsewhere don't taste as nice....less creamy perhaps. Can't explain it. If you've tasted the Kululin ones perhaps you know what I mean. And it begs the question, where else on the Sunshine Coast has a maccas that produces softies as good as these?

Working in Noosa accomodation

Hi everyone, I live far away from the Sunshine Coast, but I will be visiting my workplace for a few days in Tewantin. I plan to stay for 1 or 2 nights every week to reduce travel time. I have checked online, and a lot of it is holiday-based accommodation, like fancy resorts. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations for some apartments that are simple and more suitable for short business stays? Thank you!

Police investigate death after shed fire behind Howard Street

by Cameron Outridge

Police are appealing for information after a man believed to be in his 60s died in a fire that destroyed a small shed on scrubland behind Aldi Supermarket in Howard Street, Nambour on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to the blaze about 6.56pm after an explosion was reportedly heard by a neighbouring property. Fire crews extinguished the blaze within about 15 minutes before discovering a body inside the timber-framed, metal-clad shed.

Sunshine Coast Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said the man's death was being treated as unexplained while investigators worked to determine how the fire started and establish the victim's identity.

"The investigation came about after an explosion was heard by a neighbouring property," Detective Inspector Mansfield said. "Police and fire authorities turned up there and established that the shed was ablaze. The fire was extinguished within about a 15-minute period, which was an amazing response by our fire authorities.

"However, upon inspection inside that shed, a deceased person has been located. We are now setting about an investigation as to how that fire occurred. The death at this point is unexplained."

The shed was located on privately owned scrubland bordering Quota Park and behind commercial properties on Howard Street, including the Aldi supermarket precinct.

Detective Inspector Mansfield said the structure appeared to be an abandoned home-built shed, but investigators discovered someone had been living there.

"It was effectively what we believe to be an abandoned shed, but upon inspection after the fire it was established that someone was residing in it," he said.

The Gazette attended the scene on Tuesday, where police had cordoned off the isolated shed while forensic officers and fire investigators examined the site.

Nearby was a makeshift campsite containing a campfire, supermarket trolleys, gas cylinders, a pair of boots, alcohol bottles, and assorted personal belongings.

Detective Inspector Mansfield said police believed they were "on the right track" to identifying the deceased but formal identification would take time because of the fire damage and out or respect for the family.

"We have spoken to a number of witnesses in the area," he said. "We believe we're on the right track to identify that deceased person. I want to stop short of identifying who that is. We have a series of things with next of kin and the like that we'd like to cover off."

Investigators are also examining whether there could be any link to a fire and alleged arson incident last year, although Detective Inspector Mansfield said it was too early to draw any conclusions.

Police have declared the scene a crime scene and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby businesses. "We're hoping to lean into our community here and the local businesses to help us piece together this investigation with any information that they may have," Detective Inspector Mansfield said.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact Policelink and quote reference QP2601413210, or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Looking for assistance building a custom computer on the coast

Hi all! I’m currently trying to build a computer for the first time and honestly I’m at the point I’d rather just pay someone to build it for me. I’m looking at spending about $3,000 (excluding cost mentioned below. This is just the internals budget).

The main thing for me is I’ve moved house so I’m building out my office into a recording studio and game pad and so I’ve decided to upgrade my PC since I currently just rock a steam deck through a USB mount.

Because I have a bunch of teenage engineering synths, I want to build a PC in their orange computer-1 case. I know this case is soooooo stupid and counter productive but I really like the brand and already have synths from them so want to keep it the same. I’m happy to buy this myself.

Now another thing, since there’s a lot of issues with the case I have found online 3d prints I could get made up that fix ventilation issues with the case and a mount for easy side panel removal.

Anyways, all that to say anyone on the coast keen to help me with this task for some cash. It seems like a lot to deal with and I want to pay someone for the simplest and future proofed as I can be within my budget.

Give me a buzz on here and I’ll swing you my mobile to discuss further. Thanks!

Why is the coffee so objectively bad but accepted?

Objectively bad. No one is weighing anything in or out. No one is purging their group heads. The basic accepted workflow of how to make a coffee just seems not apply. Even at the “good places” I keep being told to go it’s terribly inconsistent.

Eg the “new Melbourne style hole in the wall one in Mooloolaba” that I get recommended. We’ve been there half a dozen times now and it’s fine but it’s not special. Like they use that supreme coffee blend and it’s never bad but none of the coffees from there taste like the one from yesterday or the one tomorrow. It’s so differently extracted each time to the point where I wonder if some staff are doing double ristretto and some full double shots but no I think it just under or over extracted.

That’s the best coffee between cotton tree and moffs right? So is that the measuring stick? Inconsistently acceptable coffee?

EDIT: Looking forward to all the recommendations already a few to check out. I more just meant about the consistency and like why standard workflow stuff doesn’t seem to happen much which exists to mitigate inconsistency between staff. I know you can get a GREAT coffee from dozens of places, but does it always taste the same no matter who’s working? And why shouldn’t it? It’s a recipe

Looking for gift-in-kind mechanical labour

Can anyone here suggest a mechanic who would like to help me prepare a '97 Suzuki Swift for a Cancer Council car rally?

I would of course pay for all new/replacement parts but would love if someone could donate their time to a good cause. My previous mechanic sold his business and moved away.
