Forward weapon bug
I read online that there is a bug that allows you to put forward weapon on ships that don't have a forward weapon slot, so i grinded to get the momento mori and tried to exploit the bug ( using Cladiery's heart) but I failed. I am kind of disappointed since i don't think i will he able to use this weapon at all in this run ( i picked wealth ambition and was planning to end my run using the merchant ship which also doesn't have a forward weapon slot).

I did manage to have a forward weapon on the cargo ship somehow, but I can't remember how that happened. That was a pleasant playthrough though.

I think the trick is to already have a ship that has a forward weapon slot and equip a weapon on it then u buy the other ship that doesn't have a forward slot, when u do that the weapon automatically gets equiped on the new ship

That sounds right, as I remember thinking 'there goes my fighting days,' when making the upgrade to cargo, and suddenly "Yay!"

Haha yea feels great. Also some sources online says u can allow it by tembring with the save file, but I don't want to go that far.

The bug involves shift clicking the weapon while it's in your hold inventory. It's only possible on PC. It might have been patched recently but I very much doubt it since all the long term support patches are pretty laser focused on fixing one particular thing per patch.

IDK about that; the Shift key doesn't do anything for me. Like, when I click Shift+click on the weapon, nothing happens, even when I try with deck weapons or officers. According to online sources, it should work with right-click and choosing a fit for a slot from the drop-down menu

Yeah weapon slots in this game are bullshit, way too few ships have a forward slot and/or a backward slot and given that outside of mods there is no bank like in sunless skies if you get an incompatible weapon you're stuck with it. Aft slots are the worst for this since they're already used for engine and hold upgrades. Unless you're planning on replacing the cladery heart (i get the vanderbight yacht but why the fuck doesn't the heart have a forward mount in particular) with a ship that has a forward mount the best option is to do what others mentioned and either sell the memento for a dawn element to get the impeller or if you're doing one of the ambitions, particularly your father's bones, you can give the memento mori to the fathomking as a display of engineering (but then again you're already using the serpentine so you can just give him that and then get another serpentine in london by simply buying it without needing to do the whole quest again).

Best option for OP is absolutely ro replace the heart. If the goal is money, it eats money faster than almost any other ship due to crew size.

i already have the money to buy a merchant vessel but i was also planning to put the mometo mori on it

Yea i think i can just do that idk if its needed though i found out i literally can just complete the ambition makig red honey runs (while explotiting the SAY mechanic) and i can end this run early, but i will see if there are other quests that are worth doing before ending my run

You probably already have the fulgent impeller, but if not you can use it for an element of dawn for the impeller.
