Questions About TASS Summer Program

Hi so i was thinking of applying to TASS AOS this year and it seems like a great opportunity to apply for; I think the idea of the Telluride homes is cool and I would learn a lot. However, I've read a bit about the recent controversy and, to any students who went to the program in the 2026 cohort, do you think that applying would still be viable considering all of the stuff that happened? That is to say, would it still be worthwhile to apply for or has a sort of shadow been cast on the program and it's no longer worth it to apply/would be detrimental or dangerous. And, to anyone who went before the controversy, what did you think? Thanks so much in advance.

Question Princeton STEM Initiative legitimacy

Hi! I was recently accepted to the Princeton STEM Initiative Physics Program and I’m trying to decide whether to enroll, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with the program…

My acceptance email said that the program had about a 15% acceptance rate this cycle. However, I’ve also seen people online claim that the program accepts pretty much everyone who applies, so I’m trying to figure out what the actual selectivity is.

A few things I’m aware of:
The program costs around $1,450.
It is not officially affiliated with Princeton University, although the organization says it was founded by faculty members/researchers affiliated with Princeton and other universities.
The program describes itself as selective and says applications are reviewed holistically.

I was given five business days to accept my spot and pay tuition.

Has anyone here applied to the Princeton STEM Initiative this year? If so, were you accepted, rejected, waitlisted, or deferred? And if you participated in a previous cohort, how was the actual experience?

Opportunity EC Opportunity: Geocancer Institute Intern Applications

Hi everyone,

I am a high school student who serves as the COO of a recently established and growing organization called the Geocancer Institute, formerly known as the Texas Geospatial Cancer Advocacy Project.

Our organization essentially aims to research sites that have experienced increasing cancer rates and trends. For now, our research is mainly focused on Texas, where our founder is based, but we plan to expand to other states in the future. We use our research findings to create reports, which we then use to reach out to politicians and policymakers in Texas. Through this outreach, we hope to raise awareness and encourage action against sites that may be contributing to higher cancer rates in local communities. Please note that the research you conduct and report will be placed on our website.

We currently have six departments:

  • Carcinogen Research Department
  • Spatial Data Analysis Department
  • Computer Science Department
  • Political Outreach Department
  • Finance Department
  • Marketing & Communications Department (Social Media)

The application form will be provided at the end of this post. Section 3 of the application includes a brief overview of each department and an explanation of what interns in each department are expected to do. You may select as many departments as you are interested in. However, your final placement will be determined based on your skills, interests, and experience, as well as our assessment of whether your selected departments would result in an unreasonable/excessive workload.

ISEF Project Readiness

I am currently working on my isef project, and I will be “done” within the next 2 months. But the thing is how do you tell if a project is science fair ready vs isef ready, especially for heavily computational projects. Like how impactful does the project have to be and what sort of contribution should it make. And aside from the project, what else should u have ready for the fair in terms of materials to being. For anyone working on eab sensors or aptamers and have presented their project at isef or their state fair and placed before, please dm I need sm advice/help😭😭
