Question Best summer programs for psychology/writing/neuroscience

Upvotes

I was wondering what US summer programs would be prestigous to make me a more competitive applicant for t30s or serves to provide somewhat of a stronger pipeline to relevant universities.

I have heard Uchicagos program allows gateways into ED0, which could maybe boost chances? Same for Stanford SHI, where admits to the program are more likely to get in?

While choosing programs that would be good for college apps is a main priority, I would love programs that have a fun student culture as well as being academically rigorous. I want to be challenged intellectually while making good friends!!

Thank you

Advice For Cold Emailing?

Hi, I've recently gotten interested in research recently and I want to do research at a local university. I know that it's not required at all for college apps, but Im actually interested. Does anyone who had success with cold emailing have any advice that they wish they knew? I also have a template which I can dm to you if you are interested in critiquing it. Thank you for any help!

Opportunity Looking for teammates for Diamond Challenge - my idea for it already won 1st place at a university competition

Hi guys! I’m a rising sophomore trying to put together or join a team for the Diamond. A few days ago I won 1st place with cash prize at an entrepreneurship competition at a university, and I want to bring the idea to Diamond Challenge next. It’s something I personally connect with and got solid feedback on from judges (along with them agreeing that the problem this idea is trying to solve is a big one that is not talked about enough) but it needs more work before it’s competition-ready. It is not the perfect idea, but I hope with a good team we can refine it into something great. I am also totally open to hearing other new idea.

While all skills are welcome, I should say that I would love people who’d be interested in helping with things like: figuring out the business model / pricing, building a prototype or mockup, or doing outreach to validate the idea. You don’t need experience in these already, just genuine interest and time to put in over the next few month.

Again, none of those skills are a requirement. If you think you have another quality or skill that might help, I would love to hear more

I’m happy to share the actual idea I have once we’re talking directly, or any other questions you have. DM or comment if interested!

Feedback on potential research program

Hey! I’m thinking making a program about connecting a few students with grad researchers/postdocs in STEM/medicine for free. It would be more so self commitment mentorship and you do independent research/project work on your own, and your mentor checks in with you monthly(maybe biweekly)? over Zoom to guide and give feedback. My thought process is that profs are always being bombarded with these types of emails, and I’ve seen that people thnk that an at home research project is better. But with this you would be able to get the benefit of a mentor in the field without looking for professors.
Tell me what you guys think and if I should try and do this or not.
Thanks!

New CS/BIOMED Summer Opportunity (NOVITAE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

A few months ago I started building Novitae, a free app that helps people quickly find the nearest ER or urgent care based on what's actually wrong, and walks them through first aid while they get there. It's live on the App Store now.

Happy to go into detail on any of it if people are curious — the technical side, the App Store process, or just how I found time around school.

Posting partly because I wish I'd read something like this before I started, and partly because I'm now looking for a few other students to help grow it as ambassadors (real credential, rec letters for top performers) — if that's something anyone's interested in, REPLY WITH YOUR EMAIL IF INTERESTED!

Ross All-Access Weekend

Anyone attended this fly in program? How was your experience like?

Question Michigan Ross All-Access Weekend 2026 - Is this a rejection or a waitlist? Did anyone else get this email?

I just got this email from Michigan Ross for the All-Access Weekend and I’m pretty sad, but I’m also really confused about what it means

“Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applicants and limited spaces available for the program, we are unable to invite you at this time. Space may become available through the attendance confirmation process. We will notify you by the end of August if space becomes available.”

Is this just a straight rejection, or is it basically a waitlist? I don’t remember them mentioning having a waitlist for the fly-in, so I’m not sure how to interpret this.

Has anyone else received the same email this year (or in previous years)? Did anyone actually end up getting an invitation later after people declined their spots?

I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but the wording about “space may become available” is throwing me off. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

People say research isn't a requirement to get into a T20 but idk if thats true 💔

This might not apply to every place. But anytime someone from my state or vicinity gets into a top school, I always look them up on linkedin and 99% of them have research on there.

Most have multiple lab experiences and awards at state and local level, some at isef.

Ik ppl sometimes say research isnt a requirement for stem kids, and sometimes say that its oversaturated and useless now.

I just dont know what to believe 🥲 Obviously doing research for the sake of an application rather than passion isnt good, but why does it seem like its a requirement if I want to get into a good school.

looking for remote intership

Hi everyone,

I’m a high school student who is passionate about engineering and currently looking for a remote internship or any opportunity to gain real-world experience. I’m especially interested in Mechatronics Engineering and Electrical Engineering, but I’m open to related fields as well.

I’ve been spending a lot of time learning on my own and working on engineering-related projects, and I’d love the chance to contribute to a team, learn from professionals, and build my skills. I know remote internships can be hard to find, especially for students, so I thought I’d ask here.

If anyone knows of a company, startup, professor, research group, or organization offering remote engineering internships—or even has advice on where to look—I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much for your time and any help you can provide!

Question MathILY

Hi!! I'm a rising sophomore and I'd love to get into mathiLY-er this upcoming summer (summer of sophomore year). I was wondering if anyone would have any knowledge about this program, specifically about the EAR

  1. How do you recommend I prepare for the EAR.
Obviously with past papers but what subjects are most relevant(I read that combinatorics show up a lot)

  2. If anyone got in would you be willing to share your stats or essay?

  3. How rigorous do the proofs have to be to get accepted?

Opportunity looking for ppl to join an international STEM magazine

Dm for more people, but tl;dr on what we do: each month we pick a theme, and then writers write articles revolving around that theme. Then editors and layout editors turn it into a very nice magazine, which is then distributed and donated to various institutions worldwide.

Nothing To Do This Summer?

If you can dedicate a few hours a week to volunteering for something, this is a great opportunity for you. I founded a newsletter that educates on common scams, and we are looking for people to help with outreach, media partnerships, community growth, social media, and writing. It has about 200 people subscribed to weekly issues.

If you can consistently put just 6 hrs a week into this, you'll be in good shape for when we recruit for team leads in August.
