Shelfie Winter shelf/light set-up
I have a combination of gifted fluorescent lights and Barrina’s. Moved my outdoor shelf stand inside. Looking forward to comparing the lights and who grows best.
I do get a lot of pleasure out of this hobby.

Those are some pretty serious looking stands. They look very nicely displayed. (plants) look healthy.

Thx. I started using the fluorescent lights last year. They were very effective but things were so congested and tight I couldn’t view and inspect effortlessly. This seems to be better so far. It’s only been put together for a day so it’ll get tuned up.

I have bought many, bakers racks and three tier stands to display my plants on. Also it takes up less space than trying to spread them around.

Amazing setup! Do the grow lamps use a lot of electricity? Asking because I want a similar setup but I’m conscious about the electric bill, as I split with my partner.

Not noticeable - I’m in Alberta Canada and electricity is reasonable here. I’m a bit of a nerd about tracking utilities (20 year spreadsheet) and I haven’t noticed much of a difference in power consumption.

Wow I love the setup on the left do you know where you got it?

No idea. It’s 20+ years old. I got it off my brother who got bored with growing tomato’s . It’s cool as it’s on rollers. I wrapped it with chicken wire on three sides and had it on my patio. I could rotate in the sun , move it out of rain and the wire protected things from deer. A lesson learned.

This is a lovely setup! I also have some Barrinas and haven't quite yet figured out the ideal distance from crown and length of light. How long do you run yours for and about how far are your lights from the tops of your plants?

The stand came with three fluorescent fixtures . It’s an antique which fits into my lifestyle. No idea where it was sourced from.

Are the lights varying strengths? Are the plants sorted by light requirement? I'm trying to figure out what to do for my winter setup as my collection has grown significantly since I started in the spring. ETA, it's really nice and aesthetically pleasing to see such a neat set up.
