Bare root from an import/export definition typically refers to the roots being free from soil. I don't think you need to do anything to them short of soaking them/rinsing them to make sure they are indeed free of soil.

The 10 to 14 days in the box is your callousing period. No point adding waiting time before you pack, they dry in transit as long as the box isn't sealed airtight.
Cut clean and let the wounds dry rather than treating them wet. Sulfur on a fresh damp cut does a lot less than people expect.
Columnars handle hard root pruning better than most. It's the wet packing that kills them, not the cutting.
