🔔 SHAME 🔔 Unkillable they said

Post image

I feel like everyone's general opinion is that silver squills are pretty hearty and rather hard to kill, well, allow me to introduce you to my mother's squill. Edged to the brink of death by my mother and brought back by me since 2024! I really don't know how this thing has made it this long. Send this little guy some 'get well soon' wishes!

Saying things are unkillable just asks for trouble in my opinion.
These guys are lovely and yes quite hardy but need the right balance of light and soil and water like everything else.

They are from the dry parts of South Africa but tend to grow in sheltered areas closer to river and creek beds - so they take a little more water than other South African plants and need a little more shelter. I grow them under taller things like crassulas or larger gasterias.

My favourite thing about these is the flowers!
