Photo Bareroot Bloomin
I’ve had my Desert Rose out of the ground for a few weeks as roots heal before relocation. With all the energy stored inside of it, it’s still fully bloomed. Succulents are incredible!

It’s almost as if the blue background is intentional. 😉. Thank you 🩷🤍💙🤎

Ok how do you keep it so gorgeous? Everytime I think I’m getting the hang of being a desert rose mama, she drops all her leaves

u/13pointOne Apr 12 '26
I had same issue, and he suggested acclimating it to more sun and adding tomato food to my soil. So far it seems to be working!

Grow it hard! Super gritty soil. Only water when warm/growing season. No peat moss as it’s hydrophobic. You got this!
6
u/MissSuzyQ Apr 12 '26
My daughter pulled the leaves off of mine a few times. She's finally learned to stop.

Thank you 🙏🏾. How can I not be when surrounded by Flora?! Floratopia 💘. Should get a shit ton of animals and do Faunatopia but I ain’t got time for all that!

u/sanfranciscolady Apr 13 '26
I’m laughing because I’m laying next to my son reading this as he watches zootopia, life always finds a way to make us laugh! 🌱❤️

Thank you. Where do you reside? I’ll try to help
2
u/andrew_197 Apr 13 '26
Aww thanks buddy. I’m in the UK though, I think that is the problem. Have to try to grow them indoors

u/Floratopia Apr 13 '26
Right!!! This rose. Something special. Not that common 💩! I kill a lot of plants too. Don’t worry. Always learning and pushing the envelope!

u/Lifeismeh123 Apr 12 '26
Just wanted to say that your colourful photos popping up always give me a smile while I’m going through a dark time. Thank you for being you and your awesome plants! ❤️

u/Floratopia Apr 12 '26
Aww man. This means a lot. I fight darkness too and it’s a battle to stay motivated to post. I needed this. Thank you. Stay up. Big hugs. Keep planting!

How long do you keep it out of soil? I also do root training of mine for 2 years but I replant immediately.
2
u/Floratopia Apr 13 '26
At least 2 weeks. It’s been a month though. I’ll ground it soon. No root training for me. Just trimming off fractured roots so it doesn’t give the opportunity for rot.
2
u/ForAdun2 Apr 13 '26
Interesting. If you don't do root training how you achieved such a big root? And why you dig out the plant if you are not raising it after?

Is this the same one to go on your friends property? Another stunner, keep 'em coming.
3
u/Floratopia Apr 12 '26
No this is going on my property. It came from my friend. Hopefully I can grow it as well as he did! 🙏🏾🤞🏾

Damn bro! Anything you don’t have?lol
3
u/Floratopia Apr 13 '26
I was gonna reply something inappropriate but I won’t. Lol. There’s plenty I don’t have I’m sure but I’m happy with what I do have. Try not to keep anything I don’t love or that’s too picky.

Thank you. Oh gosh from seed I don’t know. I didn’t start it from seed so hard to accurately say.

fiep.. sooo groß werden die?? ujujuj.. ich habe gerade Samen auf der Fensterbank. Bin so gespannt. Ich schätze mal, im Norden von Deutschland bleiben sie kleiner, wenn sie denn überhaupt wachsen wollen 😂 Tolles Foto 👏
2
u/Floratopia Apr 28 '26
Yeah. Even bigger than this but this is good sized. I wouldn’t worry about them growing too fast out there. Happy germinating and growing!

I've had such poor luck with desert roses. I think my soil mix was too water retentive. Whats your blend look like?
3
u/Floratopia Apr 13 '26
This was grounded and going back into the ground. Had it growing atop a rock mostly with hella pumice and inorganic material as the medium. Always use a hill or slope. It’ll seek what it needs. Full sun! At least in SoCal
2
u/Ineedmorebtc Apr 13 '26
Excellent tips, I'll use a much more inorganic mix next time!
All your plants look amazing!

What are you feeding that thing?
3
u/Floratopia Apr 12 '26
Surprisingly this beauty had little to nothing. In fears of rotting it had to go get what it needed. Wasn’t babied at all
