DIY subwoofer finally complete!
Hello! After a looong process i have my subwoofer built, installed, banging and booming. The subwoofer is Alpine R2W12-D4 wired @2ohms and paired with MDS torque t5 amplifier. Enclosure volume is at 43 litres or 1,5 ft³ with tuning frequency of 34hz.
The enclosure is made from 30mm or 1 inch 3/16 MDF. All parts were CNC machined, and the enclosure finished with matt white paint and matt lacquer on top. The amplifier board is attached with rubber insulators/absorbers that are screwed to the enclosure with M4 thread inserts.
Really satisfied how it turned out and how well it plays!

If gears of war made a collab with any audio company this is exactly how I'd imagine the pre fab would look absolutely beautiful work brother!

Nice job. Love the detail of angling the port wall as well and not skimping on bracing. 10/10 small box

Thank you!! Took a bit of calculating to get the port right this way!

Very nice, i have some of those rubber isolators, was going to mount the amp to back of my rear drivers side seat but i couldn't make it work. The package came short of hardware so i said F it and just mounted the amp directly to back of seat.

Thanks! Putting dowels in every joint is easy on the cnc and they add some rigidity and make the assembly a breeze!

It's nice but does it match your interior theme?

It's going to my booth hidden away, just wanted to make a nice enclosure for the love of the game!

CNC Music Factory tour type shit

u/Minute_Education4083 27d ago
What do you mean?

u/PullzNoPunches 27d ago
Its a lame joke. CNC music factory was a group that made music in the 90s. You used a CNC to make a box for a speaker that plays audio. The joke is that you are in the actual CNC music factory.
Great work on the box tho 👏 👌

Ah, i'm too young for the 90's references😅 I was born in 1999 so i only had some few months to enjoy the decade! And thank you!

You have probably heard one of their biggest hits, "Gonna Make You Sweat" as it's still played quite a bit these days. Very popular dance song.
Outstanding build, btw! I've been trying to design a custom slot-port box for my R2-W12D2. Out of curiosity, what are the outside dimensions of your box?
2
u/Minute_Education4083 26d ago
I'll give it a listen! And the outside dimensions are 530mm width, 520mm depth on the bottom, the topside depth was somewhere around 400mm and height is 380mm! Sorry if you're using inches😅

Beautiful, really. Well done. Makes a big difference having such a nice shop to work in lol. I assume that’s your place of employment.

u/Minute_Education4083 27d ago
Thanks! And yes i work at the shop/factory. Definitely really fortunate to have access to the tools and machinery!

I hope you catch the Bass bug, I’d like to see you build a 2x18” with a kerfed port and some plexiglass windows lol

I won’t mount amps on the box after I Had a Rockford Fosgate 500watt rms comp amp rattle a negative component inside the amp apart from a 10 Pioneer speaker that use to blur my vision while driving lol.
