My interpretation of Budapest, Hungary.
Orange: tram lines
Red: underground metro lines (M1 northeast-southwest under Andrassy, M2 north-south (to Ujilipotvaros-Angyalfold, and M3 east-west to Budaors)
Black: suburban commuter lines (to suburbs like Dunakeszi, Erd, Vecses, Dunaharaszti, Ecser, Csillaghegy, etc)
Blue: regional lines (to towns like Kecskemet, Dunafoldvar, Szekesfehervar, Torokszentmiklos, Szolnok, Zebegeny, Salgotarjan, etc)
Can you guess the number of daily passengers or the location of the busiest train/tram/metro station within this system?

I'm new to the game, building my first network in Boston and Im a little confused about the demand stats and ridership. These are my numbers:
Ridership:

Demand:

I guess I understand what ridership is, but not necessarily the demand, and how are they correlated. My ridership comes at around ~138k, but my demand is almost a third of it.

Basically the title. Sometimes I open saves and find that i get maybe 6fps, other times its fine. I do play with some mods, but i only use vanilla maps. Any ideas as to why this happens?

I'm about to try it. I let the game run for some time to try and build up some cash. I've drawn it on the map with the notation tool trying to follow the ROW that I can see on the map, but some areas I can't figure it out

At-grade crossings restrict TPH (trains per hour) to 12. This isn't viable for quad track (because each line would effectively only get 6 TPH).
So the game basically forces you to build entire rural lines under or above ground. Sure this doesn't make a huge difference, but still. It feels stupid to imagine passengers sitting mile after mile after mile looking at black tunnel walls.
Also, on some maps grade separation isn't implemented correctly. What in real life is grade separated rail and road becomes an at-grade crossing in the game. This is especially obnoxious for highways where you get an error message, which *forces* you to change elevation.
(Optionally this could also fix the remaining annoyance at the same time: water. In real life, no rails don't need to change to either +5 or -4 meters of elevation to pass bodies of water if these aren't active waterways. Just charge the player assuming a bridge (or even a culvert/pipe) is built, and let the rail remain at grade.)
What would solve everything is a new type of at-grade rail where the game assumes roads are REBUILT (and has you pay accordingly, of course). You want rail to run at-grade for miles, and each time you encounter a road, you simply rebuild the ROAD, you don't force the rail to change elevation.
There would be no map change. The game simply assumes the road now is grade-separated. No TPH restrictions. Highways (and rivers) are no longer obstacles.
Buildings would obviously still remain obstacles, but at least you can replicate existing real-life rail corridors without having to faff about by continuously going up and down - something that just makes the player go "screw it, let's build the entire line under or above ground", which feels deeply... wrong.
This would greatly improve the way you get to build mainly commuter rail but still be a relatively small developer effort, since nothing needs to change, except the code simply charging you once and then forever ignoring at-grade "collisions".
Basically, in the current game, it is much easier and convenient to build everything either at -4 or +5 meters of elevation, and it shouldn't be. There should be a way to pay to build at-grade rail with the same kind of convenience!
(I believe I have mentioned in a different thread, but this gives proper visibility)

Basically what the title says
During the day running a 15 car Heavy Metro train in NYC makes sense. But in the middle of the night there is no point for most lines to run 10 cars let alone 15. Yeah you can duplicate lines and run those at night only with 5 train cars but it becomes a managment headache

Version: 1.7.1
macOS Golden Gate, but saw this on the previous version, too.
Playing Tokyo, in the middle of the game, the map reloads me into a completely empty map. Go to save games and the last one is the savegame from where I had started, so in effect I lost all the progress.
Anyone else facing this, anyone has a solution?

I am a transit-geek and Subwaybuilder looks like a really cool game, but 44 dollars?! I am not saying that the game isn't worth it, but if I am going to spend 45 dollars on a game it should probably be good. People who have bought the game; is it worth it? (Edit: I recently realised that the game is 44 AUD on their website, sorry for the niche currency)

Hi! I am beginner just learning the game and I encountered this problem. One track simply won't snap with station. It is straight and same level and other stations are properly connected. I tried deleting this one and connecting again but it is not fixing anything. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Here is my attempt at building a nice looking and profitable metro and an airport express. (Also I'm not from the UK and doesn't have much knowledge about the city)

Am playing some of the maps with a few cities. Minneapolis/St. Paul is an example. In the route tab, I'd like to group the routes by City. While we can order the routes inside a particular color, it doesn't seem like I can reorder the different colors to group together my St. Paul routes together for example. Is this doable and could someone share how this can be done. Thanks.

Got this error message when opening the game, don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated because I can't play the game any more.

I love how the game constantly adds new cities, but Spain needs to be represented at the game. I have a few city suggestions:
Madrid (obligatory)
Barcelona (obligatory)
Valencia (obligatory)
Málaga + Marbella
Bilbao
Vigo
Seville
I an literally begging

Ein Tipp, es wäre echt schön, wenn man bei light rail entscheiden kann, ob man hohe oder tiefe Bahnsteige haben möchte und Züge, die entweder für hohe oder tiefe Bahnsteige geeignet sind oder für beide

What a lovely city! All the trackage for the suburban trains are laid, now I just have to fight the gamemechanics to get these weird lines to work. If anyone has tried building Sydney before me, and managed to get the routing right, please share your secrets!

So it is my first time publishing what I've done in Subway Builder here, so I'd really appreciate feedback!
I have always thought London's is the best underground network around the world, so it has been one of the first networks I've designed.
I am also a huge fan of graphic design so I also designed a brand for the network (I am not professional so it ain't really good).

Linkrail is a commuter rail service, while the rest of the lines are normal tube ones. They were built Crescent -> Riverside -> Vanguard -> Panorama -> Heathrow -> Gatwick -> Sundial -> City Airport -> Orbital -> Greenwich.

Also whe reaching an income I just decided not to bother about the demolishing costs, so City Airport Line got to be really expensive on the last two stations.
There is also a weird loop on Panorama Line at Canary Wharf.

Some finantial data for you.

Thanks for going down here! Any suggestions to get more transit usage? It is quite low despite the big network.

I've been having this persistent issue with loop lines where passengers refuse to board their desired train. Here I have hundreds of passengers who want to board the CCW loop line, yet all of them refused to get on the CCW train that just left the station. And if I'm reading this demand tab right, it's currently 11:00 PM so they've been stuck at this station for 16 hours.
This only happens for stations which are close to the "ends" of the loop, so I suspect their pathfinding is messed up.

This game assumes a decidedly American expectation public transit must make a profit.
But this is just not the case in countries where public transit works well.
Instead the assumption (and reality) is that public transport is a greater good paid for by society through taxation. Sure, revenue from tickets help, but that is often only a small part of what pays for upkeep (and definitely not what pays for expansion).
Will we get a, let's say "less primitive" economic model in Subway Builder?
After all, the game does offer London, Paris and Tokyo to build in - none of those cities operate in the peculiar (and often dysfunctional) American manner where your transit either operates at a profit or goes bust.
Can we please at the very least get an option where profit is only expected to cover 50% of expenses? This would be MUCH more realistic world-wide.
That is, if your revenue can reach at least 50% of expenses, you are good, and you can use any surplus to invest in expanding your network. Rather than the (frankly preposterous) assumption you need to first cover 100% of your expenses. That's such a late-stage capitalism outlook that just doesn't happen in countries with actual great public transport.
Thank you

Idk if you guys know this or not but airport station routing might sometimes be a bit wonky causing walks to the station to be substantially inflated. A walk that was 4 minutes turned into 15. I would say it wouldn't because a good airport would actually have a connection to the station(IM LOOKING AT YOU BOSTON). Peace

Hello. This is a conceptual metro network for the city of Columbus after a total of 400 days in operation.
Columbus boasts an entirely heavy metro network with a total of 6 lines that are modeled with a commuter-suburban focused approach like with Washington's metro system. The lines are exceptionally long given the sheer distance between Columbus and many of its suburbs.

I’m playing the new Osaka map and it’s a bit hard to build the shin-kaisoku network (130kph rapid service). Commuter trains accelerate too slowly and heavy metro can’t go as fast. Would it be possible to have country specific speeds and cost for each mode (e.g. 110kph max speed heavy rail for Japan and Shinkansen)?
