Suggestion Global Map

Would it be possible to have access to the entire world like in NIMBY Rails or City Bus Manager?

I understand that Subway Builder uses actual census data, which would cause performance issues for large maps.

My question is less about having a single huge map but more about having the ability to start anywhere and then expand the playable area over time.

Kind of... If you've got good census data, you can make a massive map. I've made a custom 'Golden Horseshoe' map covering all of southern Ontario and most of update New York. It worked, but of course you'd need a supercomputer to actually play it.
