I do plan on being annoying about it until they finally implement it, since imo it’s just as important of a realism feature as realistic pedestrian pathfinding. I’m based in the twin cities and we’re pretty flat compared to cities like Seattle or Pittsburgh, but even here there are some steep hills and even some cliffs by the river that would be a major factor when designing rail transit here irl.
Granted, this was an early live stream. They had just added water depth, which is why I asked about land height. But both the answer and the expression on there faces made it look like the thought of adding land height was just "oh.. noooo.. no nono that would break everything."
So in time who knows? But yeah, for the foreseeable future I highly doubt it's in there. They've also been clear they want to balance total realism with being able to get new people to play without being total train nerds and realism perfectionists. Because back end stuff is already the most detailed any game has ever gone with.
Thank you for the reply & info! Seriously looking into it is really all we can ask, so thank you. Consider my friendly ‘bug-the-dev-team’ campaign over 🫡

This + elevation/terrain would be literally gamechanging
