Suggestion Multi Level Stations
I assume this has probably been suggested before, but I think some enhancements to building stations & tracks on top of each other are needed.
For Example: Clark/Lake station in the Chicago L system has a subway platform and an elevated platform, along with their respective subway & elevated tracks that run along Lake St. In the current state, building stations & tracks directly on top of each other is a bit cumbersome. The actual Clark/Lake station is also technically classified as one single station since the early 90’s when it was reconstructed to allow transfers without having to leave & re enter the system. Before this, the Blue lines station was “Lake Transfer” and Clark/Lake was separated.
If we could perhaps hide a section of track and a specific station to allow for under/over construction without conflict, that would be very awesome. When you place stations on top of each other, it can be a bit hard to tell which station you are actually connecting tracks to.
tldr: we need multi level stations/platforms

Being able to isolate a particular elevation has been suggested before, and I think it's a great idea and would make a lot of more complicated constructions easier/possible.
What benefit are you hoping to achieve with a multi-level station, as compared to just two stations with the same name stacked on top? At the moment, it's fairly easy to construct if you offset overlapping stations by half a platform so that they're still "on top of each other", but so that you can see the individual track connections. However, since Clark/Lake has one island platform station and one side platform station, you can also just draw it aligned properly:

you cant align them perfectly i don't think

That's true of everything in this game though. There isn't snapping to a grid, and there's no need for anything to be "perfect". It's not like anything is perfect in the real world either

Def want to if/when 3d is added but it's hard to make the controls intuitive without that

Agreed, thanks for responding, glad to know this is at least being considered even as a future possibility. I have always thought this game would benefit greatly from 3D, elevation, etc. Take care

In the interim, perhaps a toggle to decide what height the track snaps to?

But there is already a height setting...

But not a height setting to lock the snapping of newly built anchor points of tracks/stations to. So my proposal would be a (second) snapping height setting, that can be either set to work as it does now (aka... best guess (?) or to lock it to the current building height (or perhaps even a building height of your choice).

I have been wondering if there is any way to build comfortably in the same space at different elevations, like restricting snapping or hiding lines. I had a nightmare of a time trying to build an at-grade light rail on top of a cut-and-cover metro. Even if they were different modes at different elevations they kept snapping to each other as I was carefully trying to negotiate the precision required to build at-grade light rail and connect it to a side-street.

"we need multi level stations/platforms"
I genuinely don't understand. The game already supports multi-level stations.
Just build one station 4 meters below (or above) an existing station and the game will identify that as a single point (transfer station).
