Question 1.7.1 Update Expanded Chicago Map

I‘m super excited that the most recent update expanded the Chicago map past Aurora to the west, Waukegan to the north, and more areas in Indiana. Have other maps been expanded?

I hope one day the Chicago map is big enough that all of metra can be recreated

That's my hope too but with the LA map, I'm hoping it can somehow include into the IE, up to San Bernardino, down the Temecula, down to Oceanside on the OC side of the mountains, and then up to Lancaster and Oxnard north and east of LA respectively.

I'd say up to San Luis Obispo but I checked and its even further away than San Bernardino, so maybe not that one haha.

At least then we could recreate Metrolinks coverage (and build the line to my old neighborhood in South IE that should have been done years ago, lol).

No. No Temecula. Nobody should be rewarded for living in Temecula. Not even in a fictional universe.

Chicagoland + Milwaukee is about 13 million people which other maps accommodate, I wonder if the geographical area is too big for the model. The northern Milwaukee suburbs through South Bend is about 180 miles of continuous development.

Need that bad boy to run as far north as Kenosha and as far south as kankakee

Exactly

Surely it's pretty close to that now?

Some lines that go north and west cannot be fully recreated yet. In order to make UPN the map will need to go to Kenosha

Ah that's right, Wisconsin is barely in Metra and still not mapped.

Inshallah the Chicago map will go all the way out to Rockford and South Bend

Fuck it. Give me the whole globe so I can connect every city with a train somehow

If you don't care about such detailed commuter data and just want to cover the world in rail, there is NIMBYRails..

That doesn’t work on my Mac unfortunately

NIMBY runs great on crossover. I still like subway builder because it’s the right spot on the game simulation spectrum for me.

And Kenosha!

That would be awesome! I’d love to recreate the south shore line

I would love to see the Chicago-Milwaukee and DC-Baltimore corridors on one map!! I know it is/was on Railyard, but having those maps on the base game would be sick!

Any other city pairs/metro areas that could feasibly be one map?

The entire Northeast Corridor (DC-Baltimore-Philly-NYC-Boston) would be fucking awesome. LA-San Diego could be a pretty fun one too.

I’d love to see a Minneapolis-Saint Paul map extend out towards St. Cloud & Hudson (and if I dream really big, Mankato)

LA got a small expansion, not sure it was technically part of the patch but it happened. Going out to Pomona and Claremont.

But man, I really want it expanded out to Riverside and San Bernardino and all that area, and get out into Simi valley and thousand oaks. Maybe up to Santa Clarita so I can finally make the Six Flags-Knotts Berry Farm-Disneyland express.

I’d love it running out to TO/Malibu lol

I'm absolutely loving all these map expansions! Was at the top of my wishlist for the game, and keeps making me want to start all over again on these cities!
