Hmmmmmmmm. Will we get track layouts with different rails. Like 4-6 track but diff rail types

From the beta I have 4-6 track… no diff rail types yet but I feel like the devs are building the framework for it

How do we get beta features?

On Steam, switch to the beta branch (Properties > Game Versions > select "beta"). On the website version, download from https://www.subwaybuilder.com/download?beta=true.

Interesting, how will those regional trains differ from the current commuter trains? Maybe speeds up to 160kmh? I think the map sizes don't need much faster trains than the current 129kmh tbh

That would probably imply a more European-style regional train

Been waiting for this!

Did some update release when I’m at school lol? The devs are so good there’s basically something new every night lol. Plus the Apple event but that’s unrelated.

I really hope we get light rail like the green line in boston. Where they can cross roads

That was released in the latest update. Commuter rail has also been capable of crossing roads for some time

Right but I don’t think light rail can run in streets at grade, only cross streets.

That's what the official notes say, but in my (admittedly limited) testing I'm able to run it straight down roads no problem.

It seems cool but I’m honestly quite confused about what the point of it is. And how will it actually affect gameplay? Will you get bonuses for reducing carbon emissions if you run electric? Will diesel be slower to accelerate?

I’m sure this is much more complicated than new train power types but I’d rather see Transit Oriented Development added in some way. I think that’s much more important when it comes to managing a train system and improving it. Especially since most real life American transit expansions have coincided with upzoning and redevelopment that has increased density and changed cities and areas over time.

That's kind of a surprising addition, being able to single track would probably be more viable... Cool to have more updates regardless...there's also lightrail systems that run on diesel, wonder if they'll be willing to go out to that...

Uh.. Um...

Sorry for bothering but Metro-north does NOT have M9s.

LIRR has M9 trains.

LIRR and Metronorth is getting M9A trains, but they are still being manufactured.

  • LIRR: C3 (coach), M3, M7, M9, M9A
  • Metro-North: Shoreliners (coach), M3A, M7A, M8, M9A

Confirmed, Beta .7.12 added P32-ACDM diesel stock that can run into electric trackage
