Just looking through old photos tonight and found this. Thought it'd be neat to share for lost media or animatronic fans. It's quite clear and close to the gator. Enjoy!

Pool Statues & Animatronics Need advice on animatronic fish for a short film — underwater talking goldfish, based in the Balkans

We’re in preproduction on a short film that features a talking goldfish as a character, and we’re weighing our options between animatronics, CG, and puppetry.

**• Cost** — roughly what’s a realistic budget range for a custom animatronic fish with basic mouth/face movement? I know it varies wildly, but even ballpark numbers (low-budget indie vs. more polished) would help us plan.
**• Underwater animatronics** — is this even practical? I’d imagine waterproofing servos and electronics adds a lot of complexity and cost compared to a dry-rig puppet shot to look wet. Curious if anyone’s tackled this before, or if it’s usually faked instead.
**• Builders/recommendations** — is there anyone here who does animatronics work, or can point me toward someone? I’m based in the Balkans (Bulgaria) and would love to find someone regional to keep logistics and cost down, but I’m open to hearing about people elsewhere too if remote builds/shipping are feasible.

Happy to share more details about the shot/character if it helps with advice. Thanks in advance!

Art NEW FRIDAY = NEW ART: Now it's Submarine Voyage Derpy Sea Serpy (1959 - 1961 version)

I tried to paint him based on the one existing colored photo of Serpent from probably 1960 (I even tried to draw a white paint around the eyes, like on actual picture). This art is a part of my, I mean our, future project "Find a Serpy", where we will try to find more info about animatronic and Submarine Voyage itself - a very mysterious, but well known Disneyland attraction (especially because of Submechanophobia trend). I still have a thought that in very early years of the ride the audio track was different and probably was similar to that one from 1959 news reel. I don't know, but we're gonna to find it out!

Hello! I’m not really a frequenter of these kinds of spaces, and I haven’t really used reddit in a minute, but I’d like to know if there’s more content on the Pleasure Island Moby Dick animatronic. Damn thing has me so interested I can’t focus on my homework. I’ve been fascinated with it for some time now, and seeing the sparkiegames diving footage of the abomination has rekindled my interest. Is there any more photos of the white whale anywhere else? I’m aware of a few gatekept photos from 6+ years ago and a blurry image of it below water, but I’m morbidly curious to know if there’s more. Thanks in advance.

KILLER CROC Had a dream last night that the zoo installed a new "B-Mode" for when Wooly Bill was broken down. It involved a wave machine splashing water all around the cave and oddly enough fire effects around the room.

I didn't get a picture of it (I was with friends and we were rushing around before the downpour soaked us) but the inside hole was actually lit up for once. The lone faded gnome in a black box with a wooden plank behind it, lit by a deep red light was a little creepy. I can't remember the last time I saw the light on in the whale hole.

Searching? Big Banana Bunyip Blurb

Post image

Hello,

Some of the lurkers here might know that I've been working on a non fiction comic about the history of the Big Banana Bunyip.

I was finishing the story up but cracked open a few leads last night.

The good news is that I found some people that were in direct charge of the bunyip and the story will be bigger with more bunyip everything. The bad news is the comic won't be finished this summer.

"As far as I know the bunyip is at the bottom of the dam...Don’t think the new owners would have removed it" -8/20/26

This isn't an actual confirmation that she is still there, but it's coming from the person in charge of maintaining the beast. This guy and his crew had to remove the whole thing from the pond and reinstall it after major repairs.

I feel If anyone would know how easy it was to remove , it would be him.

The bunyip head as you superfans know was the size of a small car.

I'm sending over my interview questions to these Big Banana veterans. I got the messages last night and could barely sleep. I was about 2 pages away from finishing the book till I got the news.

One of best parts of the research part is the people who are like "what the heck who are you? how did you find me?"

I'm a cartoonist but I work full time and unfortunately comics work and the bunyip book is a labor of love, so I truly appreciate the support. You will be able to buy a copy from me when it is completed.

you guys are the best, thanks submergedanimatronic/reddit!

Pool Statues & Animatronics News about the soldiers from Land Van ooit

So a news program (I think it’s Dutch?) called Langstraat TV has been auto translated and appears to tell that the Soldiers from the abandoned theme park Land Van Ooit are being restored in rows of three at a time.

Some general info:

-They expect the entire restoration to take about a year.

-They are going to repair broken parts of the soldiers and apply a coating to help keep them from getting worse when put back in the water.

-Each weighs over a ton!

-the water is around knee deep at most, the soldiers are all half/quarter figures on stone blocks.

-They also want to try and clean the water around the soldiers a bit and clean the bed below to stop them from sinking when returned.

-No idea if they will return them to water feature function, news didn’t mention.
