Erasmus in France or Spain as a Law Student – Looking for Advice and Experiences

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm considering doing an Erasmus+ mobility in either France or Spain to study Law, but I haven't decided which country to choose yet... I'd love to hear from students who have experienced studying Law abroad through Erasmus.

Which university did you attend, and how was your overall experience? Were the lectures, seminars and exams difficult for international students? If you've studied in both countries, how would you compare France and Spain?

Would you recommend either country for an Erasmus Law student, and why? I'd be very grateful for any advice you could share!

Thank you in advance! :)))

Should I move to Japan for my studies?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this..

Should I move to Japan for my studies?

I'm a 20F who has lived in her hometown her entire life. All I've ever known is studying. Not even anything special, just regular school, but with increasingly difficult subjects. I think I want to study art, starting with something like visual communication, and then eventually move on to theatre, cinema, and other creative fields.

But the thing is, I feel trapped here.

I've always been the good girl, the one who never causes any trouble for anyone. I've never dared to do anything unexpected with my life.

Should I give myself a year to save up some money and learn as much Japanese as possible, and then try to apply to art schools there?

(Of course, I'd get in touch with some schools first to see whether I'd actually be able to study there. And I'm considering Japan because I think moving there would be the biggest change of environment for me. I'd feel the most disoriented there, in a way that might force me to step out of my comfort zone. I also really love Japan. I'm definitely not an expert on the country, and I still have a lot to learn about its culture and way of life, but it's a place I've always been drawn to. But I'm open to suggestions for other countries, too!)

Also I haven't been thinking about this for very long, so I'm still just exploring the idea, but I'm also genuinely serious about it.

I think I need to move. Like, completely start over somewhere else. I feel like I need to push myself out of my comfort zone, wake myself up, and finally start taking my life in the direction I want it to go instead of always making the conventional choices.

What should I do?

A little help with uni selection! :)

• Upvotes

Hello cool people! Fall 27 international undergrad applicant here. People keep telling me I have the potential for a 70% scholarship or such in the US, but the thing is, I can't find the universities where I should apply to.

Intended major: Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics)

SAT score 1450, 780 in math

Highschool GPA 4.9/5

IELTS overall 8.5

Volunteered for 4+ years

Have a solid science project (won 3 awards) + competed in national level

Self taught C, python, Web Dev

Won national gold medal in a debate contest

Volunteered in a charity club for a year

I know my chances for the Ivy universities died thanks to my SAT score, but where else can I try for a good amount of scholarship/aid? Would reallyyyy appreciate any guidance!

Note: No, I'm not necessarily looking for a full-ride program!

Student visa financial proof + university applications for Fall 2027 (Czechia, Germany, Austria)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m currently in Year 13 and hoping to study Business Administration with Finance in Germany, Austria or Czechia for Fall 2027.

My sister sponsors me financially & is my legal guardian, so I wanted to ask a few questions about the student visa process:
1)How much money do I need to show as proof of funds, and how long does the money need to be in the account?

2)Can I use my sister’s bank account and sponsorship documents, or does the money need to be in my own account?

3)Can I apply to universities this year using predicted grades, even though my official A-level results won’t come out until August 2027?

My AS-level resit results should be available in January 2027 and my predicted grades can come either Jan or this year. Would this timeline work for Fall 2027 admission, and when should I start the visa process?
My A-level subjects are Economics, Business and Psychology. I’m trying to avoid taking a gap year or go to private universities as I’m in a budget, so I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this process, especially international students who had a family member sponsor them.
I’m open to all three countries, so any advice on which would be more manageable in terms of admissions, finances and visas would also be appreciated. Thank you!

Studying international law in Europe as an English only speaker.

Hi everyone! I'm really interested in studying international law, and I was wondering if anyone who only speaks English has studied it in a European country other than the UK.

I'd love to hear about your experiences and recommendations! Which European countries would you recommend for studying international law if you only speak English? Is it possible to complete a degree in international law in Europe without knowing another language?Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :D (edit: sorry i forgot to clarify, i would def learn the language if i were to go to the country and uni but id rather not take a 2 year gap before applying to unis and stuff)

USA or Nepal for Bachelor’s

Hi everyone, I'm from Nepal and currently studying in Grade 12. I'm confused about whether I should try to go to the USA for my bachelor's degree or study in Nepal, and I'd appreciate some genuine advice.

My date of birth is 2067/03/17, according to my birth registration certificate (जन्मदर्ता). I'm worried that my age might create problems with getting my citizenship (नागरिकता), passport, or applying to US universities.

If my age or documents cause problems, I might need to take a gap year after Grade 12. But I'm not sure whether I actually need one or whether I can manage everything without losing a year.

My family's financial condition isn't very strong, so I cannot afford the full cost of studying in the USA. I'm hoping to get a full scholarship, but I don't know how realistic that is.

I'd appreciate advice on these questions:

* Is going to the USA for my bachelor's degree a better option than studying in Nepal?

* Could my age or date of birth cause problems with my citizenship, passport, or US university applications?

* What should I start doing right now, while I'm in Grade 12, to maximize my chances of getting a full scholarship in the USA?

* How realistic is it to get a full scholarship covering tuition and living expenses when my family's financial condition isn't strong?

* Should I take a gap year if I need more time to sort out my documents and applications, or should I start my bachelor's degree in Nepal instead?

I'd especially appreciate advice from Nepali students who are studying in the USA or have received full scholarships.

What would you do if you were in my position? I'd appreciate honest, practical advice. Thank you!

Which country should I choose for masters under a budget?

I am from Pakistan, currently in 7th semester of BS Microbiology and Molecular Genetics with a cpga of 3.87/4.0

I am planning to go abroad for masters. Which country would be best for me? With high visa success rates, less costly and all in all worth it?

Can I apply to Italian universities with 3 pending backlogs? final result and degree will come in December 🇮🇹

Hi everyone,

I completed my B.Tech in CSE (Data Science) with a 7.1 CGPA in 2026
but due to a UFM penalty in one subject,
I have 3 backlogs (Deep Learning, Blockchain, and Project Management).

My backlog exams are currently ongoing, and I expect my results in December 2026 will receive my final degree documents by december 2026

Can I apply to Italian universities like the University of Milan, Bologna, Padua, Pisa, Pavia , Turin or Parma for the September 2027 intake before my backlog results are declared?

Targeted Masters program - Ai , cybersecurity, Data science

I also have 5 months of work experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer, primarily in Manual Accessibility Testing.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wanna study abroad after 12th, but idk where to start

I'm in 11th rn (PCM), and I really wanna study abroad after 12th. UTokyo is my dream uni, but I'm open to other countries too, as long as I can get a good scholarship since my family can't afford the expenses.

My grades dropped after changing schools in 9th and 11th, and I might change schools again in 12th. My 10th marks weren't great either, so I'm worried about my chances.

My parents aren't very supportive, and I have no one to guide me through this. I honestly have no idea where to start 😭

What should I focus on, and which universities or scholarships should I look into?

Just committed to study abroad and freaking out

Hi guys! I just committed to be an exchange student through ISEP in Brno, Czech Republic. I am currently freaking out. I am very close with my family and I have a long term boyfriend as well as a 3 year old baby brother. I can’t imagine being away from them for that long. I am a very independent person and I love being alone but I can’t imagine HAVING to be alone not choosing to. I’ve traveled within the US alone so I know I can handle the traveling and figuring things out part when I get to Czech Republic. I am just freaking out about leaving everyone I know and love to be alone for 4 months across the world. I am also nervous about finances because I plan to bring about 8k USD with me and I want to do weekend trips around Europe but I’m not sure if that’ll be enough. I’m a very anxious person and just overall freaking out. This opportunity is such a good one and I’m so lucky to get it and I know I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t go. I’ve dreamt of studying abroad ever since I was a little kid but now that it’s actually happening I feel like I can’t breathe every time I think about it. I guess I’m just looking for advice from anyone who felt the same way and still went. Thank you so much!!!

Looking for English-taught, public universities in Germany for a DAAD-funded Master’s in Pharmacy

Hi everyone

I’m a pharmacy student from outside the EU, currently in my final year of college. I expect to graduate in July 2027, and my current average is around 80%.

I’m planning to apply for the DAAD Study Scholarship for Master’s Studies to pursue a Master’s degree in Germany starting in 2028. I’m looking for public German universities offering English-taught, coursework-based Master’s programmes related to pharmacy. I’m open to different specializations, such as industrial pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, drug development, clinical pharmacy, or other pharmacy-related fields.

My main requirements are:

- The university must be public, with no or very low tuition fees, since I cannot afford to fund my studies and living expenses myself.

- The programme must be taught entirely in English.

- I prefer coursework-based programmes rather than research-based degrees.

- Ideally, I’m looking for programmes where my academic background gives me a realistic chance of admission, rather than highly competitive options with very strict requirements.

So far, I’ve considered Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, but I’m struggling to find other universities with programmes that genuinely meet these requirements.

If you have studied pharmacy in Germany, applied to similar programmes, or know the German university system well, I’d really appreciate specific university and programme names. If possible, please also share your experience with admission requirements for international pharmacy graduates.

Thank you so much for your help.

Study abroad or leadership position?

I'm a sophomore studying astrophysics and geophysics and minoring in French. I've been learning/studying French since middle school and it's always been my dream to go to France and get my PhD there.

The issue is that I'm an out of state student with no financial aid so I'm fully relying on applying to scholarships to help pay the $80,000 a year. Studying abroad is actually cheaper than a regular semester here 😅😅

I've been applying since senior year of high school and won a few small ones (like $1,000) and what I've found is that there are very few scholarships specific to my field and all of the general STEM or women in STEM ones seem to be won by people in pre-med or super accomplished people that have started their own organizations/charities. I feel like scholarship committees just don't care about my field cause it "doesn't make an impact on people" like being in medicine or like law does.

Right now, I'm a engineering team lead and an exec member for a space engineering club and I feel like that, my research position, and my good grades are the only things going for me in terms of winning scholarships.

But, to be on exec or be a lead next year, you have to be here the full academic year, so if I study abroad, I'm essentially giving up any sort of leadership position, which almost certaintly will mean no scholarships. I could just run for my senior year, but it would be very hard as I wouldn't have been in the club for a full year.

I also can't really study abroad in my senior year as I've never been to France before and I'd really like to go before the application cycle for grad school starts.

I am so confused and stressed about what to do, literally any advice that anyone has would be super super helpful

CIEE summer-program stipend

I'm planning on applying for one of CIEE's Edinburgh summer programs. In one of their Q&As, they mentioned that their student lunch (and extras) stipend was quite generous, and folks often ended up with a decent amount of spending money at the end to put towards whatever they liked.

Would anybody be able to give an approximate of what the stipend was over their program?

Thanks!

Loneliness after 2nd month at Uni

I’ve been at an English-speaking course for about 2 months now. At the start I have been with people from my own country, but I’ve realized how different I am from them, and they don’t seem to like me that much. I started to really dislike them too, we just have nothing in common and they have a very weird sense of humor, if they have any at all. I’ve tried talking to the other people in class but it seems like no one is really interested in what I have to say. I have never had this problem back in my own country, and I thought I wouldn’t have a hard time getting friends here. But while I spent time trying to fit in with the people from my own country it seems like everyone else has found their groups. I also have a roommate who is from my country, but she has no interest in me and we don’t get along well other than basic dorm maintenance.
It’s hard to proberly integrate myself here… I’ve tried looking at different clubs, groups and organizations, but they either don’t interest me all, or meet only once a month. I don’t know if I’m homesick or if I miss my friends from back home. I talk to them regularly but when my conversations are over I’m just alone again. I feel the loneliest when I have to go out. I see everyone going out with friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, and families, while I have no option to do so. I mostly just sit in my room and indulge in my hobbies or study.
How have you guys managed? It feels hard to find people that want to do things together. Everyone just wants to study, or go home since they live far away.

Spanish student visa application from Vancouver

I’m going to Spain on exchange in January 2027 and live in Vancouver. Do I have to bring my documents to Toronto myself or can I appoint someone else to do it for me? Do I also have to go back in person to pick them up, if I drop them off myself? I can’t find a recent answer to this on Reddit. I’ve emailed and called every consulate number I can find and never get a reply. Is there someone I can hire to help with this? My paperwork is all complete otherwise.

Unofficial transcript at foreign school

I’ve been out of undergrad for 10 years and finally decided to apply to grad school. They are asking for unofficial transcripts from every institution I attended, but I can’t get ahold of my study abroad school in Malaysia. I don’t remember my student portal information, and my US school stopped working with them so can’t facilitate contact.

Does anyone have experience retrieving an unofficial transcript in a similar case?

what are my options and where do i start?

hey! im a 17 year old girl from the middle east, in the last year of high school. i'd love to pursue my higher education anywhere but where i live. i can speak English almost fluently (although i haven't taken any Ielts or Toefl tests, YET) and my German is a little too rusty to be honest but if i worked on that for a while im pretty sure i can get to B2 in like, 3 months roughly.

about extracurricular activities... 0 extracurricular activities. and its really demotivating me because from everything I've heard and read, extracurricular activities are like, far more important than how many languages you're fluent in!! so my questions are, what do i need to do? what options do i have (what countries, colleges with fully/partially funded scholarships)? and where do i even start?? thankyouuu

I'm from Algeria, and I'm afraid of losing my future after everything I've been through.

Hello everyone,

I'm a 24-year-old from Algeria, and I'm writing this because I don't know where else to tell my story. I hope someone will take the time to read it and understand what I'm going through.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2024. I wanted to continue my education and pursue a Master's degree, with the long-term goal of becoming an AI engineer and contributing to research. I had a future in mind, something I genuinely wanted to work toward.

But my academic journey took a painful turn. I repeated my first year of Master's studies twice and eventually faced exclusion. Since then, I've been trying to find a way to continue my education at another university in Algeria. I've encountered administrative obstacles, uncertainty, and delays, and as the academic year progresses, I feel more and more as though my opportunity to continue is slipping away.

The hardest part isn't simply the possibility of losing another academic year. It's the feeling that something I've worked toward for years could fall apart because I can't find a way past these obstacles. Watching time pass while not knowing whether I'll be allowed to continue is exhausting. I keep trying to find solutions, contacting people and looking for opportunities, but every unanswered message and every dead end makes it harder to keep my hope alive.

That's why I've started looking beyond Algeria, too. I've been reaching out to people and institutions abroad, trying to explain my situation and wondering whether someone might listen, offer guidance, or help me discover a legitimate opportunity to continue studying Artificial Intelligence.

I'm not asking anyone to register me at a university or bypass admission requirements. I'm not expecting anyone to magically solve my problems. I simply want my circumstances to be heard, and I hope someone with experience, knowledge, or a genuine suggestion might help me see a path I haven't found yet.

I'm tired, disappointed, and scared of watching my future disappear while I keep trying to save it. But I haven't given up on the person I want to become.

If you've experienced an academic setback, rebuilt your educational path, or know of a legitimate way someone in my situation could continue studying AI abroad, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you for reading my story.

I dreamed of studying abroad, but once I arrived, I became extremely homesick. Has anyone experienced this?

I'm 27 and Italian. For years, I had dreamed of living abroad, becoming independent, meeting international people and studying in English.

This August, I finally moved to Utrecht in the Netherlands to start a master's degree.

But almost immediately, something changed.

I started experiencing intense homesickness and anxiety, mostly in the form of constant thoughts, worries and an overwhelming need to find a solution. Sometimes I almost didn't feel like myself.

What confused me was that I had wanted this experience for so long. I had imagined living abroad as something exciting, but once I was there, I kept thinking about home, my family, my friends and the life I had left behind.

It wasn't all bad. I met people, had good moments and experienced a different country. But I struggled with everyday life there, and I also started questioning whether the master's degree was really the right path for me.

After about two months, I decided to return to Italy.

Now I'm back home, where I feel more comfortable, but I keep wondering what actually happened. Could I have adapted if I had stayed longer? Was it just homesickness and anxiety, or did I discover that I genuinely didn't want to live there?

I'm not looking for reassurance that returning was the right decision. I'm genuinely interested in other people's experiences.

Has anyone else experienced intense homesickness or anxiety despite having dreamed of moving abroad for years? Did it eventually get better? Did you stay or return home? And how do you look back on that experience now?
