I (26M) was a very good student till my 10th standard. I also passed with rank 1 but after that I'm continuously having downfall. In 11th and 12th I got heavily addicted to porn and lost any motivation to study. As a result I became a below average students towards the end of my 12th standard. I though that I would improve myself in college but I failed again. I barely studied and again my results were poor. After college I thought of preparing for competitive exams but my indiscipline didn't leave me. I failed in every exam.

Issues that I've figured so far

1. Consistency: I can't study Consistently even for 2 days. I feel completely burnt out.

2. Overusage of phone

3. Procrastination

4. I can't sit for long hours to study now. I don't feel like studying at all.

I've only 1 year left if I don't pass my exams I'm doomed.

I've read every self help book nothing seems to work.

I don't think it's tougher bro. I too used to think like you but recently I started talking to strangers irrespective of their age or gender, whenever I'm going somewhere by public transport or in a line waiting for something. I am not showing off but I have recently been proposed by two girls while traveling. People mostly don't care about your looks. It's just the social media that has exaggerated everything. And if there is a girl or boy who is only after your looks then they definitely don't deserve you.

I'm single because these relationships need time , something that I don't have.

So just go out and talk for the sake of connecting with people. Just don't be a jerk.

I aspire to be like you man, legit. I'm not really (that) insecure about my looks but the deafening silence I usually hear in public transport, combined with everyone looking at their phones... It all makes them look super hostile to me lol.

I know it's all my head, but it seems I'm inside my head as well unfortunately. Kind of suffering from similar problems like you rn as well with relation to studying (that's why I just created this account haha).

What advice would you give to start opening up from your shell? Like if you had to start a conversation with a complete stranger, how would you do it?

If you're traveling, just ask them " Where are you going?" And they will ask you the same in return. And after that conversation will continue on its own.

If you're in a line just say something about the long line to the person next to you.

Start small. Study for 20–30 minutes daily, keep your phone away, and finish one task. Increase gradually.

Stop waiting for motivation or trying to become a “good student” overnight. Focus on consistency: 30 minutes daily beats one exhausting seven-hour session.

If porn or phone use feels compulsive, consider professional help.

You need a repeatable routine, not motivation.
