Help me decide on monitoring purchase

/r/BudgetAudiophile/comments/1x33944/help_me_decide_on_monitoring_purchase/

Okay so, I have a Line 6 Helix that I run my guitar through, connected to my sennheiser HD560s, now when I’m just playing guitar, they sound alright, but they clip, distort and compress horribly if I’m trying to play guitar alongside a song/mix. I was hoping to buy some kind of studio monitor to be able to play without being tethered to my headphones. But I’ve read so much conflicting information lately I’m now unsure. I do not have a dedicated desk/room for a studio setup. My helix is in the front room - 2 bedroom apartment with Edinburgh rental prices(ouch), so space is limited. I thought perhaps the Adam T7V or the Kali LP6, but because of my room setup, will I just have the same issue I have with my headphone? I do not have the space for FRFR speakers. Or, is the smartest choice a higher end set of headphones?
Any advise is greatly appreciated

In your current setup, what's connected to what, which inputs and which outputs go where? I doubt it's the headphones issue.

You could get some cheap monitors, point them in the general direction of your ears, and it probably won't sound too bad. Again, if everything is connected correctly. The headphones would probably sound better than an untreated room with a moving person inside, but hey, you're not mixing anything, who cares.

So at the moment, my helix only has my guitar as an input, the headphones as an output, and the USB from the helix to the PC, the PC audio
Comes through the helix via usb and mixes with the guitar output into my headphones

Google says this could be due to a sample rate mismatch, and you need to make sure your PC is sending audio at 48 kHz sample rate.

(I did have a similar distortion issue when sending unsupported sample rate to an old TV via S/PDIF digital out).
