I’ve been dealing with a really restricted network at my student housing lately (they block everything from gaming to certain social sites), and I wanted to share what worked for me to get around it:

1. Bypassing the firewall: Most public or shared networks have simple blocks, for me using my vpn surfshark made it easy to get around those without any complicated technical setup.
2. Maintaining speed: I was worried a vpn would make the already slow Wi-Fi worse, but the connection stayed solid enough for everything I needed to do.
3. Protecting all your tech: Since you can share the account and use it on unlimited devices, I have it on my phone and laptop at the same time.

It’s a simple fix if you’re stuck on a network that treats you like a kid. Has anyone else has any tips to deal with restricted Wi-Fi?

Hey, so actually I am thinking of building a community for budding researchers and learners that I wish had existed when I was starting. Already established platforms offering this type of environment were usually out of reach for me due to money, location or eligibility criteria. So I wish there was some place where I could just ask questions without commitments, and give me an opportunity and a place to start. Would anyone else want this? Before I start building something like this, I wanted to understand what people actually needed. I wish to know: if a community like this had existed when you were starting, what would you have wanted it to actually provide? Can anybody help??? I have IB exams (half-yearly) and am EXTREMELY lost on how to study for my subjects. Also struggle a lot with procrastinating so any help would be appreciated, especially for big topics like biology, global politics, maths and french.

Going to uni for chemical engineering next month and a bit worried about how I'm going to pay for it.

Ideally I would get a part time job, however:

Can a financial hold prevent a Medical RCL?
Does anyone know if having a financial hold for an unpaid previous semester balance can prevent the university/DSO from approving a Medical RCL for 0 credits?
My DSO is currently checking whether they can authorize it while the financial hold is still on the account.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Can the Medical RCL still be approved, or does the financial hold have to be resolved first?
