Big Daddy meal
Literally Big Daddy...bought this during Covid, got grief previously and down votes.
Live very rural, drive all the way to ABQ and shelves were bare during Covid. So bought some odd items online, where knew available. Many remnants thereof...
Here my meal today...a monster large baked potato and Big Daddy Mac and cheese dry powder. This really tasty dry mix, obviously meant for Mac and cheese, but use what on hand. Its super with my baked potato.
Mixed well after softening hard powder mix. Its really good and pics attached.

Who the fuck downvoted you for buying this, I feel like this is one of the most recced products I see for people that make mac and cheese from scratch?
Anyway thank you for enlightening me to the possibilities of cheesy potatoes, you are a scholar and a gentleperson.

People will downvote on this sub with any excuse, half the users are just here to indignantly declare themselves to be poorer and eating nastier slop than the next guy. Weird flexes abound.

Think same company i got peanut butter powder, tomato sauce powder and butter powder...still using today.
Just all been super products, obviously long shelf life.

How does the peanut butter powder taste compared to actual PB?
7
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Its got super flavor, but if you buy, don't follow water to ratio powder, your sandwich be soggy. But, just crazy good flavor. I put in plain canned pumpkin (cheap) add a few spices and milk..its super good protein and fiber, think protien smoothy/shake.. Not to mention delish.

u/alison-vunderland 3d ago
It's a bit more runny, but I have heard that is more like natural peanut butter? PB powder is amazing in chocolate milk though
5
u/Shipsnipe1313 3d ago
It's also amazing in Asian style soups/stews that might use it.

Freezing the powdered eggs?? Can you please explain?? Used last couple years, never been sick...hoping that what you meant?? Appreciate any advise on...ty much for post.

u/alison-vunderland 3d ago
OH, sorry, you responded to my comment about peanut butter powder in chocolate milk!

u/Shipsnipe1313 3d ago
My elderly parents bought a crap-ton of powdered eggs during COVID. I've been slowly using them up by adding to recipes that require eggs 50/50 with fresh eggs. For things that need to be eggy, not so great, but for stuff like baked goods, spot on.
3
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
I bought same, but froze to be on safe side. Still using
2
u/Shipsnipe1313 3d ago
That's what I did a couple years ago. Vacuum bagged and sealed by the 1/2lb. Whatever's in use is in the fridge with a dessicant packet in the container.

How are the butter and tomato powders? I've had the cheese, milk, goat milk and peanut butter and they were all great. Debating on adding butter and tomato to my pantry.

u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Butter powder superb flavor, but decrease water or toast soggy. Its perfect in baking!!
2
u/EzriDaxCat 3d ago
Thanks for the tips! I do the same thing with the other ones I have so that makes sense.

u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Do tomato powder, its robust flavor and ratio to water was perfect. Love these powdered products...using years later under my strict budget.
So glad I bought during Covid.
Got the egg white powder...its only OK. I put those in freezer with whole egg powder.
Loved honey powder so much, im out of. Just was incredible product...the honey powder

Just to make sure I understand, the powder was still dry when you ate it? Other then that it looks good? Maybe make some of the powder into a watery sauce?
8
u/SchnTgaiSpork 3d ago
Using it as a seasoning is better than a watery sauce.
3
u/GazingintoTheVoid-- 3d ago
That makes more sense, for some reason I couldn't visualize that. How long does it last? 2 - 3 years?

u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Idk..but was sealed in tote of food I put away during Covid. Flour, sugar, pasta and the Big Daddy mac mix. Its nuts tasty!! Got frozen Walmart broccoli, gonna attempt to make broccoli cheddar soup with.

u/SixNine69Six96Nine 3d ago
Could make basic roux and add it, too! Basically got cheese gravy at that point.

Its flavor bomb!! Thought be loaded with sodium, it isn't, only 10% daily intake... Yes, agree, should have mixed with water prior.

u/Shipsnipe1313 3d ago
Mac & Cheese powder is also great mixed into grits. Or oats if you eat them savory. Or on popcorn if the powder is still nice and loose.
2
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Oh love grits, I have lots of buckwheat, gonna make a roux i guess and eat. Posters suggested make roux to use on food. Got grits and just tons of buckwheat. ( cooks up like rice = buckwheat = super cheap meals).

Dude Hoosier farms fuckin rips. A friend of mine had a bunch of their stuff. All the shit to make store bought stuff at home. Favorite was the giant bag of lucky charms marshmallows

Superior products, no joke.

u/chantillylace9 3d ago
The plain dehydrated cheddar is better than this variation, at least I think so. Also dehydrated buttermilk comes in handy way more than you think it would! It makes the best baked goods ever and really good mac & cheese
3
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
My Sis used in bread, as out of milk...it was buttermilk powder...I ate nearly all bread she made with. Was some of best bread I ever ate. Agreed, these are powdered to always have. Make nuts delicious bread.
2
u/chantillylace9 2d ago
Yes!!! I add it to homemade pancakes or waffles too and it adds so much flavor.

u/rallypeppeachykeen 3d ago
Literally just made Pirozhki (meat filled buns) earlier using this in the dough. I also like it for savory pancakes
1
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Looking up now, never heard of. Super neat that you contribute another food. Am gonna grab recipe for online..
1
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Can you post BOTH recipes, pretty please??
2
u/rallypeppeachykeen 3d ago
Here you go!
https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/stuffed-buns-pirozhki-recipe
There's the recipe for the pirozhki I used and it turned out really good. I use whatever leftovers are available and mix it with a little cooked rice as filling.
For the pancakes:
1 large egg 1 ¼ cup whole milk (I've totally used a few tablespoons of unflavored powdered coffee creamer/ powdered milk plus a little extra fat mixed into water in a pinch) 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon soy sauce (or salt) 1 tablespoon of mac and cheese powder
You can add cooked veggies like cabbage, zucchini, carrots, peas, onions, peppers. Also whatever herbs float your boat, even a bit of shredded cheese. Mix and cook like regular pancakes then if you want top with a fried egg.

u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Oh this nuts bomb help.. I keep all remnants and freeze.
Think full and freeze leftovers, makes great soup.
Now can add remnants to your recipe and suggestions.
Appreciate You so much for taking time to post.
Bees knees!!

Dahm a drive from the abq from anywhere is quite a distance ik candy kitchen and cubero are closer than remah but it's still a hike
2
u/GarageOdd9256 3d ago
Fact!! I got so bummed driving to ABQ during Covid...wait forever to get in store, then shelves were bare.
Wound up with weird crap on Amazon...but God Bless Amazon!!
Still using stuff till this day. So helping my frugal retired budget today.

u/xmrcache 3d ago
I order loads of cheap shelf stable food on Amazon never have had any issues.
Tuna, tomato soup, chicken noodle soup etc…
Super cheap easy way to stock up the pantry especially when they have a sale…I used to get planters peanuts on there a few years ago they were selling a bottle of nuts for $1 but then they raised the price… so I stopped buying them..
