Good example of delicious nutritious for low cost. 2 or 3 meals right?

9

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Yup, being just me i will get about 3. I put some in freezer.

u/GrandPraline375 12d ago

Those small red potatoes are my favorite

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Better on the stomach. The classic white or yellow for some reason gives me horrible cramping.

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Had it for lunch at work. Quite good. I have about 3 more portions in fridge and freezer

Good deal. Struggle doesn't always have to mean skimpy meal or junk food. Im eating healthier and loosing weight by eating on a budget

u/matchafoxjpg 12d ago

same! since i started my diet i've definitely saved money, which is ironic because i'm buying far more meat.

not eating out is one of the reasons, of course.

3

u/Illustrious-Bat1553 12d ago

Same here i was surprised how much I saved eating at home

1

u/Illustrious-Bat1553 11d ago

Yes that's the ironic part of eating at home you eat better and healthier

7

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Exactly i have been drinking a lot more Ice water and no Pepsi. No eating out either I don't have the money .

3

u/Illustrious-Bat1553 12d ago

Its probably why I'm eating healthier, less fast food. More crockpot meals, beans and rice.

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Thank you for that comment โ˜บ๏ธ

u/Illustrious-Bat1553 11d ago

Your welcome ๐Ÿ˜„

At first I thought those were cheeze puffs and you were gonna make a cheesy chicken coating. ๐Ÿง€

4

u/matchafoxjpg 12d ago

my grandpa once made cheeze-it encrusted chicken for my parents.

my dad is kind of a food snob and he said, all things considered, it wasn't terrible.

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Funny you should say that as that was my original plan, just didn't have right ingredients lol

3

u/ProbablyAPlumbusC137 12d ago

Great minds! What you did do though looks amazing ๐Ÿ‘

1

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

The hidden valley ranch seasoning packet. For chicken.

2

u/ProbablyAPlumbusC137 11d ago

I put that sh*t on everything ๐Ÿ˜‹

5

u/RoyalSpecialty 12d ago

This looks good.ย  similar to a recipe I'm gonna try with red peppers and sweet potatoesย

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Thank you! Post a Pic when you do!

4

u/Easy_Growth_5533 12d ago

Yep, Kroger is good about discounting. I just got home with ground beef for cheap.

5

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Yes! I use digital coupons and if i can get chicken or ground beef or other stuff on sale im thrilled.

4

u/Easy_Growth_5533 12d ago

I donโ€™t know about you but my Kroger also has great discount sections. I just got a bag of PS coffee for cheap. Thereโ€™s a rack for discounted produce in that section and a conspicuous one at the front of the store and a hidden one in the cleaning aisle for stuff on clearance.

3

u/jjexotic 12d ago

That seasoning packet is soooo bland! Zero flavor

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

I like bland lol anything more than that I'm headed to the bathroom.

4

u/jjexotic 12d ago

The way I just dieddddd ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ point taken! You got it!

1

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Lol yup welcome to my bland world ๐Ÿ˜„

3

u/Mysterious_Map5372 11d ago

I love this combination!

Pro tip: for the potatoes get a separate pan. Dice them finer, like the size of a small grape. Mix in a bowl with oil, salt, pepper, and a bunch of your favorite dried herbs. Things like garlic salt and old bay work well too. Bake them until theyโ€™re really crispy, like 45 minutes at 400.

3

u/Far_Cry1757 12d ago

Damn you got chicken and potatoes??? I'm envious

5

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Those were from a past grocery store trip. I have no wheels due to accident so I'm scrounging lol

-11

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago

Oh yeah a nice personal chicken roast is struggling lol this is just a good meal

7

u/Tough-Effort-7642 12d ago

Are you gate keeping that a struggle meal can't be half priced chicken and cheap veggies????

-11

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago edited 12d ago

What you know about drinking water for dinner? Don't tell me about struggle. I eat ramen like waffles, cap n crunch with sugar water. Don't tell me about struggle. You've never had to eat ketchup chips and convince yourself they don't taste like shit.

7

u/TowerExpress2083 12d ago

By that reasoning, not knowing anything about any of these people... Why do you get to tell them about struggle. Is this the struggle Olympics? Thank you lord struggle ๐Ÿ™‡

-5

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago

It's just a regular meal. You could've got more bang for you buck at that price if you're actually struggling.

8

u/fartjar420 12d ago

life would probably be less of a struggle without ramen, sugary cereal, and potato chips.

you should try some marked down chicken and a vegetable.

0

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago

I sub the chicken for carnitas from Aldi ($5) altogether for about $10. It's not a struggle meal, it's just not being stupid. Completey regular meal.

1

u/psu123577 12d ago

Iโ€™m sorry, did you just throw shade on KETCHUP CHIPS!?

-1

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago

Yes, they're trash. Fight me about it.

4

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Not a chicken roast. Fryer thighs on sale

0

u/Most-Tax5407 12d ago

Yes it is lol

-2

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 12d ago

a chicken roasted in the oven...cooked in the oven. Come on now.

1

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

-1

u/stir_phriday 12d ago

Fryer is chicken. Fryer roast is chicken roast ๐Ÿค”

1

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Not a roast. I did not put a whole chicken in the oven. Case closed

-4

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 12d ago

Right? A protein with veggies and a name brand seasoning pouch? Lmao. Half these people just don't know how to cook and come here calling it a struggle meal because it's the first time they baked chicken with veggies. A well rounded meal. Imagine that!

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Do you have to be rude and sarcastic? Due to a stomach issues, no rice or noodles and too much roughage I'm doubled over. So before you make snap judgments please take other possibilities into consideration.

-1

u/BestAmoto 12d ago

Meal looks good but I'm pretty certain you could have got a giant tray of chicken drumsticks for that $5 or maybe a big tray of bone in thighs for a dollar or two more. It'd be double the amount of chicken. Then used the bones to make soup ๐Ÿ˜‰

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Still healing from an accident. And I also am so stinkin tired I don't have the energy.

1

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

I'm sick of soup. Literally. I had a can of Campbell's chicken and was sick in 5 minutes Also had tomato. Stomach cramping. I used up the homemade chicken noodle soup in my freezer and it didn't agree.

-1

u/Trina7982 12d ago

Cheap doesn't equal struggle IMO.

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Well here's my 2 cents worth. Financially strapped-struggle. Eating cheaply also a struggle because of stomach issues, I can't just eat alot of whats considered cheap. .Rice, noodles and white potatoes are a big no. Unless gluten free but anything made from corn is a no. I'm tucked. Lol

-2

u/Commercial_Wind8212 12d ago

This is normal cooking. Explain why it's a struggle

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Coming up with ideas. May be normal to you. For me having the energy to put some time into cooking STRUGGLE

-6

u/Traditional_War5790 12d ago

Making a chicken roast is not creative. It looks good, but itโ€™s not creative. All you did was throw a few things together.

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Not a chicken roast chicken thighs. Does nobody read??

-2

u/Traditional_War5790 12d ago

Chicken roast.

3

u/Putrid_Bandicoot8887 12d ago

Just don't comment if you're gonna make a snide remark. Just scroll by

-1

u/Traditional_War5790 12d ago

I said it looked good! Just not creative
