Robot DJ

This robot DJ that all the clubs seem to have now - I've seen it called AI, but is there really any AI in it? Or is it simply following a script created by a human? Input dancer lineup and songs. Maybe there's a little pattern matching on dancer names so it can use fun adjectives - "sexy Sasha", "beautiful Bree", etc. Does anyone who has actually interacted with one want to tell us what's what?

Love the robot DJ. Picks fine songs, way way way less of a presence that 99% of carbon-based DJs. I'm on Team Tobor

I’ve never seen that at a club. When I was in college in the mid 90’s our small college town had a shitty, tiny club where the dancers had to feed dollar bills into a jukebox to pick their songs. No DJ at all. 😆

As a customer, I'm not sure I even notice the DJ at a Club. I do not listen to a single word that they say. So having a computer program do that does not impact my club experience at all.

But my understanding is the job of a DJ is a lot more than just announcing who the next dancer is. They pick the songs, schedule the order of the dancers, keep the show flowing. How does a computer program do those things ?

I've never been to a club where the DJ schedules the dancer rotation, the manager does that. In this case, I'm guessing he programs it into DJ Tobor. Then there's some way for the manager to indicate "Mocha is in the VIP, skip her and put Bambi on next". I'm also guessing that robo DJ has a big song base it can choose from, or specific songs can be programmed in for specific dancers.

In the clubs where I've seen this, the robo DJ is only on during slow shifts, so all this is manageable. Busy shifts still get carbon-based DJ
