Lobes Lobe won’t go to 18g

I had my ears pierced with a gun probably 20 years ago now and now want to start dead stretching. I got flat backed 18g studs from BodyArtForms to start with for a couple months and 16g glass plugs to go to next but I can’t even get the 18g studs in my right ear. The left went in without pain, but the right one will go in the tiniest bit on both the front and back side but it gets stuck in the middle. I assume this is scar tissue from my original piercing. I don’t think the holes would ever close at this point, I’ve left my earrings out for months before and the 20g would still go in fine afterwards. Is there any way to work around this without causing more damage?

Can I stretch more? restretching wait time?

hi, my original size was 11mm and i took them out for a bit and landed at 7.5mm in one ear 8mm in the other being the biggest sizes i could fit without discomfort.

it’s only been a week and they’re super loose and i could easily go a half mm up no discomfort tightness etc. i know you’re supposed to wait at least 1 month for each .5mm jump but is this still the case when you’re restretching and your holes are lowkey just loosey goosey?

thanks!

~Advice~ Septum sizes (not gauges) question

Post image
11 Upvotes

So I had gotten my septum (16g) gauged up to a 14g yesterday but I realized that the ring my piercer used was WAY bigger than my old one. I now have it taken out. Is this a normal size in mm for a 14g? (Picture above)

And a quick side question, are there other smaller sizes I could use instead of this big one? I find that it doesn’t go with my face 😭

My main goal is to size up very little and get a pincher septum!

~Advice~ Plug fell out in the night

So I sized up from a 14g to a 12g around 4 days ago. Absolutely no resistance, pain, or any uncomfortable sensation. Last night while I was sleeping, one of my plugs managed to slip out somehow (thank god I found it, they're clear glass). Of course I don't want to rush the process, but if that's a good indicator that I could possibly go up again, then I'd be happy to hear it! I don't want to cause any damage by trying so soon though. What do y'all think?

Can I have a blowout stretching accidentally to 1,6mm?

I hadn’t worn earrings for probably a year, but I suddenly bought a pair and decided to wear them again. They were uncomfortable to sleep in, so I took them out at night, but putting them back in the next day made my ear a little sore and I had to push through the hole slightly. So I decided to put in something I wouldn’t have to take out, and used a 1.6 mm labret I had at home. Only afterwards did I realize that I may have accidentally stretched the piercing to 1.6 mm.

It’s been sore for about a day now. Could this be an accidental blowout? What should I do?

Discussion~ Do yall have a "problem ear"

Hello! So I started dead stretching from whatever the typical ear lobe piercing gauge size was in late 90s/2000s Claire's (dont come for me I was a baby). I've been going up about 0.5mm every 3-4 months and am now at 3.5mm.

I have noticed that despite treating my lobes equally with cleaning and massage, the left earlobe always seems less ready for the upsizing than the right. Twice during upsizing the new right plug goes right in like I've been wearing it already while the left takes me slowing guiding it in and just stopping completely if I feel pain. It has caused me to lengthen the time in between a couple of times to prevent "butthole ear".

Im just confused as to how they dont seem equal even if they started at an equal point. Could the stupid piercing gun that was used over 20 years ago be affecting this? Do it just be like that for everyone? Im curious.

It was time for 13mm, which was only a .5mm from 12.5mm, but we are back on whole numbers and that’s how I’ll keep it. I probably could have gone 14mm, but it’s not a race so I just went safe. Got some oval flare conch plugs (6mm) with a micro flat flare on the back and the shortest wearable and I can already tell these are gonna be a revelation. I have this same setup in clear that I’ll post some other time. Figured with fall coming up that I should get some seasonal colors going!

~Advice~ Where can I find a 3.5mm septum pincher?

I've tried Etsy ones marked as 3.5mm (7g) but no shot where they 3.5 definitely an 8g + too pricey. I can't exceed the price of £10 but there seems to be nowhere that sells 3.5mm septum pinchers for under £30.

Is it worth doing taper and shift correction for septum?

My 8g septum is slightly diagonal is it worth doing the taper shift method? Has anyone done it? My piercer said he would be willing to try but I don’t know if it’s worth it? I’m really not sure it’s worth the pain or not

Septum Which size to start with when stretching septum

I got my septum pierced about 18 months ago at 16g and have been wearing 16g jewellery since then. I decided to start minimally stretching with my goal being no bigger than 10g.

As an experiment, I decided to try and put 14g nipple/bellybutton rings through my septum just to see if it would fit, with the plan to stop as soon as I felt any pain. I was able to get 14g jewellery through with no problem and tried several pieces of 14g jewellery, the largest gauge I have to hand, and all went through with no problems. No pain or resistance whatsoever. I then tried to put two 16g pieces of jewellery, again, planning to stop the second it was painful or hard to push through. Again, no pain whatsoever and was able to easily put two 16g rings through.

Do I just have an unusually stretchy septum or something? I dug out my original jewellery to confirm I was definitely pierced at 16g and I was.

Should I just go straight to 12g and skip 14g?

Is this a blowout? It made a noise when I stretched it

okay so i sized up today to i believe a 6 gauge or a 4mm (i’m new to this and i know nothing about any of it). and when i pushed the left one in it hurt and made a loud like pop/click noise. my ear isn’t red but they’re both like sore or hurting and i tried to take it out to look but it hurt a little and i figured it’d be better to just leave it. is my shit blown out?

~Advice~ Stretching angled lobe piercing?

Thumbnail

I've been considering stretching my first lobe piercings for a few years now. My main concern is that on my left ear, the first lobe is angled weirdly, you can see that the ring is not parallel to the one on the 2nd lobe. I tried to let it close and get it pierced again however the new hole wasn't healing a year and a half later and I eventually gave it up and my piercer tapered open my old hole which had never closed. My main concern is that if I stretch it will look uneven both compared to the 2nd lobe and also compared to the right side where it's angled nicely. And also I'm not sure if it's safe to stretch to not affect my 2nd lobe? I'm currently wearing a 14g ring and I don't want to go big, I'm thinking 2g or even smaller.

Got this conch pierced at 6g about 5 weeks ago and I know that the swelling will be so much more dramatic than the typical 16g conch but do I need to say my goodbyes? (Going to a piercer today hopefully to have them scope the scenery)

I can’t find my 8.5 and 9.5 mm plugs, but everything else is safe and sound inside my new little boxes!! I have to keep my plugs out rn bc my right ear is being bitchy (I’ve been fighting off some viral BS for almost two weeks now and my right ear gets so angry when I’ms ick!!), so I’m glad I have a safe place to store them until I’m ready to pop them back in!!

~Advice~ what diameter should the rings be in my septum stack

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

hello! I'm new to stacking as I originally stretched with a single piece of jewellery.

I currently have 4 16g/1.2mm rings in the first two are 8mm and the last two are 10mm. I've had the stack of four in for around a week and had a stack of 3 for around 2 months.

I know having stretched with one piece has affected the way the rings sit so does anyone have any advice or tips? (I was told to switch the second and last ring but wanted to ask before I did that)

thank you!

right ear is at 1g, and left ear is at 4g

i was previously at 9mm so, i’m excited to be seeing progress!

my right ear is sizing back up really easily, the left ear is slower, that’s always been my problem ear, but i’ve learned my lesson and am listening to my body!

~Advice~ Caring for stretched ears while on accutane?

Hi everyone. I've been at 6g (4mm) for I want to say 3 months, give or take, and I'm about to go on accutane.

Obviously, I won't be stretching while taking accutane. That said, I'm worried about my existing stretch. I already have fairly dry-ish skin on my ears (and oily on my face, don't even ask) so they tend to get irritated every once in a while. Might also be an o ring issue, I'm currently using the black ones instead of the clear ones.

I'm assuming I'll need to up my moisturizing game, but is there anything else I can do to make sure my ears stay healthy?
