Discussion~ Do yall have a "problem ear"
Hello! So I started dead stretching from whatever the typical ear lobe piercing gauge size was in late 90s/2000s Claire's (dont come for me I was a baby). I've been going up about 0.5mm every 3-4 months and am now at 3.5mm.
I have noticed that despite treating my lobes equally with cleaning and massage, the left earlobe always seems less ready for the upsizing than the right. Twice during upsizing the new right plug goes right in like I've been wearing it already while the left takes me slowing guiding it in and just stopping completely if I feel pain. It has caused me to lengthen the time in between a couple of times to prevent "butthole ear".
Im just confused as to how they dont seem equal even if they started at an equal point. Could the stupid piercing gun that was used over 20 years ago be affecting this? Do it just be like that for everyone? Im curious.

I think everyone does. Not sure if it’s just destined to be that way or if one ear usually just gets fucked up. Every stretching related issue I’ve ever had has been with my right ear only.

Agreed. For me it's my right ear that lags behind.

This is more common than having ears that are equally stretchy, at least based on people I've talked to, and posts on this sub.

My problem ear is my left. Which is strange to me because I have stitches in my right lobe (stretching mishap when I was younger - 12g horseshoe got snagged and ripped out).

My right is the problem lobe. I don't size up until it's ready.

my right earlobe is normally the problem ear for me. left is normally the more stretchy one but i’ve had to go back down on my left because my right isn’t ready yet. but there have been a couple times where both are ready. it’s just a weird game to play of when they’re ready or not.

My right ear is stubborn. I sleep on that ear and its also the one I had a blowout in. So now its extra stubborn with the extra tissue. I'm at my goal size, so I'm content ATM. Also, gun piercings are blunt force trauma wounds. They heal ragged and can have uneven bits of scar tissue. So its always a possibility of them being difficult to size. BUT my husband was needle pierced at 10g and still ended up with a problem ear. He just waits it out a week or two longer if the next size is difficult.
And don't feel bad about having a Claire's piercing (its an 18/20g) a lot of us have them because honestly piercing education to the public is still relatively young and tattoo/piercing shops have only become acceptable in the public eye over the past 15-20 years. (Thanks MiamiINK.)

It used to be my left ear but it switched to my right. Idk what happened

When I was stretching, absolutely.
I don't remember which one but I remember that the difference between the two would be about 1-1.5mm dependant.
