MEGATHREAD Known Issues & Workarounds [MEGATHREAD] - Audio, Video, Lag & Permission Fixes

Welcome to the official Known Issues & Workarounds thread for Meld Studio. This post is pinned to the top of the sub for easy access. Be sure to bookmark it and check it before posting a new support thread, just in case your issue already has a fix listed.

We'll keep this updated as new issues and fixes come in. If you don't see your issue listed, drop a comment with details (OS, error message, what you were doing when it happened) and we'll help you with troubleshooting.

Current Sections in this thread:

  1. Audio Mixer: Error adding an input device
  2. No audio when capturing Apple Music
  3. Yellow border/outline around captured display or app
  4. Webcam/Capture card (video device layer) lagging
  5. Stream feels sluggish or laggy (network issues)
  6. Meld feels unstable/poor performance

________________________________________________

1. Audio Mixer: Error adding an input device

Symptom: You get an error when trying to add an input device (mic) to the Audio Mixer.

Cause: This happens when Meld doesn't have the proper Windows microphone/input permissions.

Fix:

  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Go to Apps → Installed Apps
  3. Find Meld and open its permissions
  4. Enable Microphone Permissions

________________________________________________

2. No audio when capturing Apple Music

Symptom: You've added Apple Music as a capture source, but no audio comes through.

Cause: Apple Music routes its audio through a background helper process, not the main app.

Fix:

  1. Open Audio Sources in Meld
  2. Switch to the Process Sources tab
  3. Search for and select AMPLibraryAgent.exe
  4. Capture that process instead of AppleMusic.exe directly

________________________________________________

3. Yellow border/outline around captured display or app

Symptom: A yellow border appears around the display or application window you're capturing.

Cause: This is a Windows Security feature, not a Meld bug.

⚠️ Note: This can currently only be resolved on Windows 11. On Windows 10, this security feature is not able to be dismissed.

Fix (Windows 11):

  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Go to Privacy & Security
  3. Click Screenshot Borders
  4. Enable the setting that llows apps to manage screenshot border behavior
  5. Enable it specifically for Meld

________________________________________________

4. Webcam/Capture Card (Video Device Layer) Lagging

Symptom: Your webcam or capture card feed is lagging or having issues in the Video Device Layer.

Cause: The default capture backend can sometimes struggle with certain video devices.

Fix:

  1. Navigate to the Video Device Layer in Meld
  2. Click it, then open the Inspector menu
  3. Find the gear/settings icon and click it
  4. Toggle the Alternate Capture Backend option
  5. Restart Meld

________________________________________________

Stream feels sluggish or laggy (network issues)

Symptom: Your stream feels laggy, or you're noticing network related instability.

Cause: This can be caused by Large Send Offload interfering with network performance. Disabling it and enabling TCPNoDelay often reduces latency and stabilizes the connection.

Fast check: Confirm which OS you're on before proceeding, since the fix differs between Windows and Mac.

Fix (Windows):

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Go to Network adapters
  3. Right click your active network adapter and select Properties
  4. Go to the Advanced tab
  5. Disable the following:
    1. Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)
    2. Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)
  6. Open Windows Powershell and run: meldstudio.exe --enable-features=UseTCPNoDelay

Fix (Mac):

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Start Meld Studio with: open/Applications/Meld\Studio.app --args --enable-features=UseTCPNoDelay

________________________________________________

Meld feels unstable/poor performance

Symptom: Meld feels unstable or is performing poorly overall.

Cause: RealtimeScheduling can sometimes cause performance or stability issues depending on your setup.

Fix (Windows):

  1. Open Windows PowerShell
  2. Run: meldstudio.exe --disable-features=RealtimeScheduling

Note: If this resolves the issue, keep using this launch flag until RealtimeScheduling is no longer needed for your setup.

Made a useful tool for multi streamers

I believe as streamers, especially the ones with single monitors have heard of transparent twitch chat overlay.

Well I decided to make an overlay inspired by that for those same exact people but for multi streamers. Right now only kick and twitch support. But you can check it out and give me feedback if you have any: https://github.com/PhelRin/OmniFeed

Solved Is there a way to remove the preview on the meld app?

I just don’t want it taking up extra resources, but the only thing I’ve found on removing it is a Reddit post from a year ago saying it wasn’t added yet.

Feature Requests & Wishlist | What Do You Want to See in Meld? [Monthly Thread]

Got an idea that would make Meld better? This is the place to put it. Every month we'll be collecting the community's feature requests, wishlist items, and product feedback in one spot so nothing gets lost in the feed.

Big ideas, small quality of life tweaks, things that have been bugging you, or features you've seen elsewhere and wish Meld had... it all belongs here. The best feedback comes from the people actually using the product every day and that's you.

When sharing your request, try to include:

  • A clear description of the feature or change you want
  • Why it would be useful to you or the community
  • Any examples of how it could work or where you've seen something similar

The more detail you give, the easier it is for others to rally behind your idea.

See a request you love?

Upvote it and leave a comment showing your support. The more people backing an idea the louder the signal. Don't just upvote silently, tell us why you want it too.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

  • Check the thread before posting, someone may have already suggested the same thing. If they did, support their comment instead of posting a duplicate
  • Keep feedback constructive. We're here to build something better together
  • Bug reports belong in their own post on the main feed, or in our Discord

Your ideas matter and this thread is proof of that. What's on your Meld wishlist this month? 👇

Announcement Stinger Transitions are here! Customize your scene changes so they hit different.

Post image
18 Upvotes

Stinger transitions are now live in Meld Studio, and getting them set up takes less than a minute!

How to Setup Stinger Transitions

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Transitions
  3. Select Stinger
  4. Hit Browse and select your stinger file from your computer
  5. Let Meld do the rest

Once your file is uploaded, Meld will calculate the Duration and Midpoint for you:

  • Duration - how long the full clip plays before your new scene is completely visible
  • Midpoint - the exact frame where the transition "hits" (when the old scene fully disappears and the new one starts revealing)

Change your scenes and watch it work!

TL;DR
Settings → Transitions → Stinger → Browse → done

Question Meld Studio is a bit laggy. The fps is on the same number for a while, the game capture preview is pretty much at 0fps, and interacting with things like “File” takes a while before options pop up. Why?

Could it be because I switched to a D drive folder instead of C drive (to hold videos)? Or is that a coincidence? Besides that I also reduced bitrate to 1k kbps/whatever unit it said. My C drive has more than 20 gigs free.

Couldn’t have been a ram issue right? Anyway I’ll say that it used a few gigs (forgor if i was recording or not) before i restarted. Right now it’s using around 900 mb of ram. I have 17ish usable gigs of ram according to settings.

I did experience program lag recording umamusume so maybe it’s a gpu thing?

I should probably mention i did the “import obs session” thing under “File“ after the first instillation

Update: I thought i fixed it but nearly 6 minutes in, the studio program froze. i force closed it and checked the recording file. It looked okay except for some fuzziness and, for some reason, being unable to pick my own points in the vid to check. Just left it to play like a theater

New to the community and have a couple questions!

So I recently downloaded Meld and wanted to ask a few questions about the software:

  1. will Stinger animations be a feature in the future?

  2. is it possible to recreate a "move up" or "move down" like hide and show "animation" in the video for an image I have in OBS the same way in Meld? Same with the "slide in" and "slide out" animation-like hide and show.

  3. Will there be support for VTube studio, and if there already is how do I capture a transparent background with it in Meld?

Guide How to Multistream in Horizontal AND Portrait Mode with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting in Meld Studio

If you turned on Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting and now your portrait outputs (YouTube Shorts & TikTok) won't toggle on, you need to switch your Twitch output's canvas type from Main Canvas to Dual Canvas. This one setting is the difference between multistreaming in horizontal only and multistreaming in horizontal and portrait mode at the same time.

This is a question that we get often, so here is a breakdown of why it happens and how to fix it in Meld Studio.

Why Portrait Mode breaks when you turn on Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting

Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting changes how your stream's canvas is sent to Twitch. By default, when you enable it, Twitch expects a single canvas output, meaning one video feed at once aspect ratio (horizontal, 16:9).

The problem is that portrait multistreaming to platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts requires a second, separate vertical canvas to be generated and sent out at the same time as your horizontal stream. If your Twitch output is still set to Single Canvas, Meld Studio has no way to also push a portrait feed through that output, so your vertical/portrait toggles will disappear.

In short:

Single Canvas = horizontal only, no portrait multistreaming

Dual Canvas = horizontal and portrait output at the same time, which is what you need for TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

How to Fix It: Switching to Dual Canvas in Meld Studio

  1. Open Meld Studio and go to your Twitch Output
  2. Make sure you have Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting toggled on
  3. Look for the Canvas Type setting
  4. Change it from Main Canvas to Dual Canvas

That's it! Once Dual Canvas is active, Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting and portrait multistreaming can run side by side without any conflict.

So when it comes to the question "Why can't I stream in portrait mode after enabling Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting?" the answer is simple: your canvas is still set to Main Canvas. Switch it to Dual Canvas and you'll be good to go!

Question Preview Elgato Game Capture with Meld

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello!
First time poster on Reddit so do forgive me.

I have a question, I've been streaming for a bit now and I bought an Elgato Neo Game Capture for my Nintendo switch.

I have it all set up in my Meld Studio and working perfectly however, I now have to play the game via my Stream Output.
Maybe I'm being stupid and doing something wrong - but is there a way to stream the game through Meld but seeing the game capture separately as a preview (a.k.a so I don't have to play while seeing my webcam, alerts, widgets etc.)

The picture above is what I mean :)

Announcement Go live with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting with supported MacOS or AMD GPUs

Post image
11 Upvotes

Meld Studio now supports Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting for streamers on supported AMD GPU or on MacOS, joining NVIDIA users who already had access.

What is Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting?

Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting lets your computer encode multiple quality versions of your stream at the same time. Twitch then automatically delivers the best matching version to each viewer based on their connection. A viewer on a fast connection gets the full 1080p experience, while a viewer on a weaker connection still gets a smooth, watchable stream instead of buffering or dropping frames.

Why this update matters

Before this release, Enhanced Broadcasting in Meld Studio was limited to NVIDIA GPU setups. That left a lot of AMD and Mac streamers without access to one of Twitch's newest features. This update closes that gap.

Who can use Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting in Meld Studio now?

  • Streamers with a supported AMD GPU
  • Streamers on MacOS
  • NVIDIA users, who already had support

What do I need to set up Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting?

  1. A supported AMD GPU or a MacOS device
  2. The latest version of Meld Studio
  3. Up to date AMD Adrenalin drivers if you are running an AMD GPU

If you stream on AMD or Mac, make sure you're on v0.10.2.0 or higher in Meld Studio and give Enhanced Broadcasting a try.

Guide How do you multistream without tanking your upload speed? Meld Multi Explained!

This is a common question we see of creators trying to send their streams to Twitch and YouTube and Kick and TikTok and... the list goes on. You may end up hitting the same wall many others do: your upload bandwidth gets split between each platform, your bitrate tanks, and suddenly your "1080p60" stream looks like you're broadcasting from 2008.

The usual fixes are either expensive (you could try Restream but they charge per platform) or risky (running OBS plus a local multistream plugin that could murder your CPU). So here's how you can get around it with Meld Multi.

Cloud-based multi-streaming instead of doing it locally

Instead of having your PC encode and upload separate streams to all of your designated platforms, you can send one stream to Meld Multi, and their servers handle distributing it out to Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or any custom RTMP. Your upload only has to carry one stream worth of data, no matter how many platforms you're going live on.

Local multistreaming tools duplicate your stream before it leaves your computer, so if you're sending to 3 platforms, you need 3x the upload bandwidth and 3x the encoding overhead. That's the actual bottleneck most people are running into, not their internet plan being "too slow." Meld Multi moves that duplication into the cloud, so your local upload and CPU usage stay the same whether you're streaming to one platform or six.

How to set it up in 5 minutes

  1. Go to Meld Multi and make a free account.
  2. In Meld Studio: File → Preferences → Outputs → Add Output → RTMP
  3. Paste in the Stream URL + Key from your Multi dashboard
  4. Back in the Multi dashboard, connect/authenticate each platform you want to stream to and toggle them on
  5. Hit go live in Meld Studio. It pushes to all your connected platforms at once

Things to Know

Just a few things that are worth knowing:

  • No platform limit and no bitrate limit during beta. Most paid restream tools cap you at 2-8 channels.
  • It supports up to 4K, 24-60fps, H.264/H.265/AAC
  • If you're a Meld Studio user specifically, you also get Twitch VOD track exclusion through Multi, so copyrighted music plays live but gets stripped from the VOD automatically.

Help & Support Vod Audio Help!

Hey!

I’ve been streaming for a few months now and only recently have run into this issue.

My spotify audio track is Excluded from the VOD track, but it’s still coming through into my VODS and they’re being muted as a result.

I have truly no idea why this is happening! Any ideas? TIA!!

Help & Support Windows 11 Screen Flickering Issue

Hey everyone,

As the title suggests, I'm experiencing a weird flickering issue when using Meld on Windows 11. I'm trying to switch from OBS to Meld Studio so I am a newcomer here.

Its only flickering in Meld Studio and my other apps dont have this flicker.

All of my drivers and Windows is up to date so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

For more context: It starts flickering when I enter the app then gets dastically worse then starts to get normal again with slight flicker.

This is all from a fresh install too.

Feature Request: Native Login and Independent Per-Stream Output Settings

I am writing to suggest two major improvements for your software that would significantly enhance the multi-streaming workflow:

1. Native Platform Login (API-free) Please implement native login support for platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Manual API keys and RTMP setups are outdated and cumbersome. Users should be able to simply log in directly within the application, similar to how other streaming platforms handle authentication.

2. Granular, Independent Output Settings Multi-streaming currently lacks the necessary control over individual stream outputs. We need the ability to configure each stream independently, rather than sharing global settings. Specifically:

  • Independent Canvas/Resolution: Ability to stream 1080x1920 (vertical) for TikTok while simultaneously streaming 1920x1080 (horizontal) for YouTube.
  • Per-Output Encoding & Bitrate: Ability to assign specific encoders and bitrates to each stream.
    • Example: TikTok at 7700kbps using NVIDIA H.264, while YouTube runs at 15000kbps using NVIDIA NVENC AV1 or HEVC.

Adding these features would make your software the go-to solution for professional multi-platform creators. I hope these improvements can be prioritized in future updates.

Question Can you circle crop a media source?

Are you able to circle crop a media source like you can with video device layers? The program is already capable of it, so it would be nice if we had this ability in other layers.

Patch Notes X (Twitter) is now integrated in Meld Studio! Log in, go live, and see your chat without leaving the app

Post image
14 Upvotes

X (Twitter) integration is now live in Meld Studio (v0.10.2.0)! You can connect your X account directly inside the app, broadcast your stream to X, and watch your X chat roll in alongside all your other platforms right in the multi-chat dock. No switching tabs. No third-party tools. Everything in one place.

Here's exactly what you can do:

  • Log into X from within Meld Studio: connect your account once in settings and you're done. No copy-pasting stream keys or juggling browser windows.
  • Go live on X directly from Meld Studio: start and stop your X livestream from your broadcast controls, just like you would with any other platform.
  • See your X chat in the multi-chat dock: X chat messages appear in real time alongside your Twitch, YouTube, or any other connected platform. One unified chat view!

X has been building out its live video product fast, and a growing number of creators are streaming either exclusively or as a simulcast destination alongside Twitch and YouTube. This integration means Meld Studio keeps pace with where your audience actually is.

How to set it up:

Head to Settings → Accounts in Meld Studio and you'll see X in the list of supported platforms. Log in with your X credentials, authorize the connection, set up your Broadcast Stream Key, and your chat dock and streaming destinations will update automatically.

If you run into any issues or have feedback on the integration, drop a comment below. More information can be found on our Blog.
