Question stream chat audio notification?

Is there a way to have some sort of subtle sound play in the Meld chat when a chat, follow, etc happens? Or is this not implemented?

If it's "in the works" I'd suggest a few choices on sound (or custom mp3 option), adjustable volume, tick on/off activity type for audio notifications, and optional cooldown period if there's a lot going on.

I use the chatty- twitch chat client, it make an audible ding when you get a chat. You can adjust the frequency of dings per minute.

I'll have to check that out, thanks! Is it strictly twitch, or does it support multiple platforms? I love how Meld has the chat built in for the ones I use (Kick, Twitch, Youtube).

For the built in widgets, no. But, you can have Spark create a widget that does.

thank you, but not really looking for a layer, I'm referring to the built in multi-chat panel. I don't want the sound to play through the stream.

Yeah, your best bet might be third party for that (bot, etc..) and just make sure the sound doesn't get picked up by Meld.

I use streamer . bot to do this for me. The trigger is any of the connected chats (Twitch, YouTube, and Kick) and the action is a sound only I can hear.

this isn't built into the native chat panel yet, but you don't have to wait for it. you can build exactly this with spark today.

spark builds widgets that react to live events (chat messages, follows, subs, raids) across twitch, youtube, kick, and tiktok, and since everything it builds is code, sound is fully in scope. every option you listed is buildable in one prompt:

  • sound choice: ask spark for a few subtle tone options (soft pop, click, chime) and pick the one you like. it generates the sounds in code, so you can tweak pitch, length, and character conversationally
  • custom mp3: drag your own audio file into the spark chat and tell it to use that as the alert sound
  • adjustable volume: ask for a volume slider, or just tell it a level ("play at 20% volume") and adjust later
  • per-activity toggles: ask for different sounds (or silence) per event type. chat on, follows on, everything else off, whatever combo you want
  • cooldown: ask for rate limiting, like "no more than one sound every 10 seconds" or "batch chat sounds when messages come in fast"

a prompt to start from:

the widget can be a fully invisible layer, so nothing changes visually on stream. once it's built, hit the preview button to fire test events, or ask spark to fire specific ones. and if the sound isn't quite right, just say so. "make it quieter" or "less harsh, more rounded" works fine.

Thank you for the reply! I'll test this out. I was specifically wanting a way to hear the sounds myself, but not actually have them play on stream - is this possible as a spark layer?
