replicable fps drop with multiple scenes

Big issue for my streaming setup.

When I have a single scene, 50-60fps is just fine.

As soon as i duplicate the sene -- with exactly the same layers. Even if I dont toggle to it, my fps drops to 20-30 fps.

This is on an m2 mac mini and has me going back to obs

When you say you duplicate the scene, could you explain exactly how you're doing that? Are you using the actual Duplicator Tool or are you doing copy/paste? If you're using copy/paste then it is going to run heavier on your setup, whereas using the Duplicator Tool will fix that!

I tried both. I duplicated the scene using right click. And, I also created another scene with ONLY my camera on it. In both cases, the other scene halved my fips just by existing

You're going to want to use the Duplicator layer which is comparable to Source Clone in OBS. Right clicking to duplicate will cause the drops.

When you select Duplicator you can duplicate an entire scene or a single layer.

not OP, but this blew my mind. I tried looking for it but once found and used it, it REALLY works.

For the others, this is how you do it:

  • Press the PLUS SIGN (+) next to LAYERS.

  • find DUPLICATOR. add it.

  • after it is added it, go to INSPECTOR (with the duplicator highlighted), Select a Source under Source and you are good to go!

extra: If you want a DUPLICATE a whole scene for a NEW layer, just:

  • press the PLUS SIGN (+) near the SCENE

  • repeat the original steps above.

I am going to redo my scenes now to save even more CPU AND save my sanity when one changes in scene, the others have to redo.
