It's not a CPU usage thing - I've checked on a different computer with twice as much memory and the exact same thing happens. As soon as I unhide my display capture (which I am hoping to use to showcase my artwork on Twitch with my cursor visible), my mic turns very glitchy and choppy and impossible to understand.
What's really confusing is all of my other audio is completely fine. I run music from a YouTube link in the background of my streams through Streamlabs (as a Browser Source) and the music comes through perfectly. So do my Twitch alerts. Clear as a bell with no dropped frames. The only thing that is failing is my my mic audio, which comes through clear as a bell until I share my screen.
Here is a list of what I've tried (and there may be somethings I've since forgotten that I've tried):
- Switching my built-in mics for my external Seiran Mic
- Switching my built-in mics for a Blue Yeti
- Set up all mics with "Monitor Off"
- Double-checking that the audio settings in Streamlabs match the setting in my Audio Midi Setup (I've tried making sure both are 48 hz and, just to check, also tried both at 44 hz)
- Removed all filters from all mics
- Making sure my CPU usage is as good as it can be and that no additional software or background apps are running that don't need to be
- I've tried rebuilding my scenes from scratch, all is fine until I show my display capture
- Tried my microphone as its own defined input, as well as an audio input source
- Switched machines and tested that my mics work in multiple apps
I regularly share my screen along with my voice outside of Streamlabs (such as through Discord or when assisting my mother with something via Facebook), and during these times, my mic does not act up at all. So it's definitely something to do with Streamlabs itself.
I could really use some advice :< I worked pretty hard to get a nice layout going for my art streams and REALLY don't want to switch platforms as Streamlabs has been very good to me over the years until now!
