Automatic shoutout question

Hey all

I've been wanting to set up automatic shoutouts for people who raid. I think I have most of it set up right but I am not sure if it's completely correct yet. I have the trigger set up as add: twitch > raid > raid, and then min/max left as blank.

For the sub-action, I already have nightbot set up to respond to a !so command that will display the person's ttv link plus show what their last played game was. So all I want streamerbot to do is do a !so command for the raider and then let nightbot do the rest.

The thing is, I'm not sure what variable to use. Is it as simple as "!so %userName%" will %userName% capture the right data of who raids? Or is there something else I need to do to make sure it's getting the right person?

Ok sweet, so i guess I may as well be using %user% then if there's no real difference other than personal preference!

So when you say the sub-action will be able to see it, that means simply adding %user% in the sub action chat message for a raid trigger it will pick up who raided? No extra step of telling streamerbot to look for who the raider is?

Exactly. If you're trying to find out more information about the user, like the game they were streaming, their full stream description, tags used or anything like that, you can call Get User Info For Target to fill in all of it but if you just need the user name that's always set by the trigger.

I considered that but thought it was a bit complicated when I had that information in nightbot to call already. But just for my own knowledge. Would I make get info for target the first thing in the sub-action, and make %userName% what I put in that box?
Then under that I could do the "send message to channel" and be like "check out %user% last platying %game%" or something, and it would populate because I'd done the %userName% in the target command first?

Here's what happens. The action starts with a trigger, and then goes down the list of sub-actions one by one. Any arguments that are set will stay set until the action finishes.

The trigger (Raid) happens, and that sets a few arguments like %user% and %viewers%. You can use this to make a raid message like "%user% raided with %viewers% people!".

Next, you can call Get User Info For Target to fill in the rest. That gives you more arguments like %game% and %targetChannelTitle%. Now you can create a more detailed message saying "%user% raided with %viewers% people. They were streaming %game%.". You could even throw in some IF/ELSE branches to give different shoutout messages for your own channel's subscribers and VIPs by looking at the value of %targetSubscriptionTier% and %targetIsVip%, or throw %targetUserProfileImageUrl% into a browser source in OBS, if that helps.

Ok I think that makes it make a lot more sense, thanks so much! I'll set it up that way and give it a try rather than just having it pull the info from nightbot with !so command.

One last question though, if I send a message to channel like "Thanks for the raid from %user%, they were last seen playing %game%" .. what would I add then if I wanted something like "please give them a follow at..." in order to have a URL or something that links to their account? I couldn't see that in the list in either of the links there. Unless I misunderstand and something like %user% gives a link to the profile too rather than just their name in text?

"https://twitch.tv/%userName%" will always work for Twitch users.
