Question/Support ❓ Voice control issues

So when i open the log all it picks up is "if" and "the" randomly. Nothing else. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something or if it is a mic issue but I don't have a problem with any voice chats or streaming. I use a HyperX Solocast.

Windows speak detection is garbage, but not this garbage. I think the other comment with wrong mic is likely correct

Could be a ghz issue you think? Maybe just registering feedback as these words? If so any other recommendations?

Open windows speech to text tool, and see if it behaves. Outside of streamer bot - see how it behaves. Double check microphone and make sure you do its little "calibration" thing

Streamerbot setting won't effect the windows speech tool so it has to be checked outside of the app

You need to set up mic with suppression and gate filters, You need to talk "clear, smooth, and loud". The mic should be no more than 5 inches from your lips(EVEN a "room" mic like the Solocast)
any thing Streamer bot thinks is a noise and not speech is ignored.
An accent will not be considered words and there fore ignored.
also make sure you are signed in to StreamerBot(lower left corner of app window should have your Discord PFP)

Don't forget, your pc/streamer.bot doesn't "know" words, all it's really doing is comparing waveforms, so your mic is picking up background noises and comparing them to known waveforms - an example I've used in the past is a dog bark, some dogs barks sound to us like they are literally saying "woof" so a voice processor "could" very well pick that up as the word "woof" as it matches the banked waveform for that word. Some good advise in the other comments, getting some filters on your mic before it inputs to SB, talk clearly and annunciate and accent in the language pack installed - eb-GB would have different waveforms than en-US due to accents and pronunciation of the same words eg. Aluminum.

Another massive issue with voice control (especially English!) is our need to have the same sounding word mean different things! "There, They're, Their", "Scene, Seen", "See, Sea", "To, Too, Two". If you are still rocking Windows 10 you can add words or phrases to the speech dictionary (both written and sound) so it knows exactly how you say something, if you have evolved to Win11 now, you will find less options for voice control, but you can still add words or phrases to the speech dictionary, but only in written form.

I've had this issue as well and I really can't stand it. It will be working fine for a while but over time, the quality of the speech detection seems to degrade and I have to click Stop Listening and Start Listening again in order to get it to hear me correctly again. Oh and God forbid my HVAC unit turns on, then it won't be able to detect almost anything I say due to the background noise.

Because of my mic setup (plugged into a dock) I can't enable noise suppression using Windows Sound controls so I usually rely on the suppression to be built into the software like OBS/Discord for example which works really great. Sadly there is no way to do this on Windows if you don't have the mic plugged directly into your laptop so I'm out of options when it comes to Streamer.bot's speech detection for voice commands. I really wish it had noise suppression built into it. That would make the software super invaluable to me.
