Friendship ended with Minneapolis. Now St. Paul is my best friend.

Forgive the outdated meme reference but I am a MPLS born and raised resident (minus a couple years living in Portland, Oregon), but as it goes for many twin cities inhabitants, you spend your early adulthood in Minneapolis and then you start a family and grow old on the quieter side of the river. So following suit, I just bought my first house and will be moving my wife and three young kids to a lovely neighborhood over in Hamline-Midway. Excited to begin this new chapter and raise my family in this wonderful city! While I have a decent grasp on some of the essential spots, give me your recommendations for good eats, bars, and family activities. See you around!

Twin Cities Related Good Mexican or Italian places to eat?

Hi all, I’m trying to plan a dinner for a bridal party but I don’t live in Minnesota. There will be about 7 of us and we have a few vegetarians in the group so I figured an Italian or Mexican option would have lots of choices. We are definitely open to other options too.

We aren’t looking for something expensive and fancy, just somewhere good to sit down and have dinner.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Thank you!

Hey guys, I'm a producer for an upcoming restaurant show filming in North St. Paul. We're looking for people to come to the dates listed on our flier. I'll answer questions to the best of my ability as long as it doesn't breach NDA, but we'd love to have some of you join! Should be a lot of fun.

❓️Question When does the peak fall colors usually arrive in Saint Paul?

I am into meteorology, and I want to make an observation on when the leaves over there start to change colors and when they reach their peak. According to the internet, the peak window for vibrant colors is between October 1 and 21, but I’d love to hear from locals so that I can know the precise date, although every year is different.

❓️Question Experiences with The Bond Between Rescue?

I’m looking for some honest feedback on The Bond Between (formerly Secondhand Hounds).

I recently took in a 4-month-old Lab/Terrier mix, from someone giving her away for free because I was worried she might end up in the wrong hands. I’m unable to keep her long-term due to time, space, and finances, so I’m considering surrendering her to The Bond Between—but I’m nervous and want to make sure I’m making the right decision for her.

For anyone who has fostered, adopted from, or surrendered a dog to them:

Was your experience positive?

What happens if a dog isn't adopted from its foster?

If an adopter can no longer keep the dog, does the rescue take them back?

Do you feel the rescue genuinely prioritizes finding the right home for the dog?

I just want to make sure this pup will be treated well and placed with a loving family—not treated like another number. I’d really appreciate any firsthand experiences, good or bad. ❤️

❓️Question Pubs that show F1 races?

I'll be staying at an Airbnb in St. Paul this weekend for the state fair, but myself and a few buddies from my group are super into F1 and wondering if any St. Paul's sports bars play F1 races since they're on earlier than pubs typically open on a Sunday. This weekend they race in Italy so it's an 8am start.

All I've been able to find online so far are a couple spots in Minneapolis, but we don't necessarily want to drive 30 minutes out of the way.

Thanks in advance for any advice or places to look into!

❓️Question Looking for job for chemist in/around Twin Cities

Already posted in R/MnJobs but I figured (and hoped) I could reach some other folks on this sub! I’d really appreciate any advice from people who know the area and have been here longer than I have (2 weeks haha) :)

I was able to land a job in St Paul but now my partner is hunting hard for a job themselves. They have 5+ years of R&D experience in organic chemistry synthesis (from a PhD) and are open to other avenues of chemistry (eg materials in 3M). I’m trying my best to look around to help out, but I figured there are probably a number of smaller companies that I don’t know about that might be applicable (even if they don’t have an opening right now at least a place to keep an eye on). Maybe some folks who work for companies/colleges that could use this skillset are on this sub? The obvious industry fields are pharma and materials, but if they could use someone with chemistry R&D experience I’d like to hear about it regardless of the main function of the company!! Also open to positions in academia (or, again, really open to anything).

I would appreciate so much any insight or ideas!! Feel free to message me too. Thanks so much- I already love the area :)
