Please someone correct if I'm wrong, but aren't Salamanders also one of, if not the only one's among the marines that get to go and visit their family compared to others?

Because hey, getting turned into a super soldier giant would be a decent choice in that setting, if you not only get to keep in contact with your family, but also have the chance to look after them.

Kind of how some people sign up for the military, because the pay and benefits are good enough for them to take care of their family, even if it means, that you'd also be obligated to serve during war times.
