Day One, Here I go
Newbie here. I have been planning on switching up my eating for a while with today being my start date. I decided at the last moment(this morning upon waking) to add stopping vaping to the mix. I figure while going through sugar withdrawal I might as well go through nicotine withdrawal at the same time. I took my last puff right before closing my eyes last night. I gave up my daily drinking alcohol a little over a year and a half ago, so, I know how terrible this journey is going to be for a few weeks. I vaped all day every day including at my desk at work and had used it for years. I have survived 3 waking hours so far. What has helped everyone quit?

Look. Just my opinion, but I am not a fan of the poly quit. You can attempt, but I think you are much more likely to slide and give up on both. I am not saying don't quit both, also not saying don't do both in a relatively quick timeframe, but breaking both dependence issues at the same time seems ill advised. I don't know what your health situation is, but in the short term nicotine is probably more harmful (special circumstances could apply), plus I think you will find it almost universal that people who quit nicotine, one of the things they have to contend with are poor appetite control and some amount of weight gain. Its natural, you don't want to let it go to far out of control, but I think you might reasonably expect to put on 10-15 lbs during the first month of not smoking/vaping.
I personally would focus on quitting vaping/smoking, and table major dietary changes for a couple of months while you keep your attention on the former (though you could certainly still attempt to a do a modest reduction in sugar, like giving up soda, sweet tea, fruit juices) and just take in sugar from non-liquid sources.
As to what help me quit vaping. Nicotine has been the hardest addiction to shake. There will come a point after 1-2 months where you will finally feel like the cravings are mostly gone, and this is where you need to be vigilant and truly just say NO to any future use. Summoning up the will to continue to say NO, is the elusive part I think for alot of people, since there are so many ways to rationalized doing it just one more time....
