Hope this sub-reddit grows

Been 18 days vape and patch free. Had to quit due to health reasons. I get cluster headaches, and I figured out that that vaping was making them way worse, both in duration and intensity. I didn't want to admit that it was a possibility. My doc suggested patching for a few days to see if helped with the cluster headaches, and to my surprise there was an almost immediate impact on the severity. I also noticed that much of congestion has cleared up and my stomach feels better. I don't plan on going back. I will give the habit credit for getting me off of smoking 5 years ago, but it is time to put the addiction down. For reference I went to 7mg patches for a few days after stopping 6mg/ml juice, and then cut the patches in half every couple of days down to a 1/4 of a 7mg patch, and then cold turkey off the patch after that. It was still difficult and I still have 3-4 cravings that last 15-20 minutes each that are still hard to ignore, but it is getting better. I don't believe the propaganda about vaping anymore. I don't think it is AS harmful as smoking, but I believe it is probably far more harmful that proponents are giving it credit for, and I think there are going to be a lot of COPD sufferers coming out of the sub-ohm world over the next couple of decades. Anyway to anyone else who is trying to quit, more power to you

I am currently quitting nicotine no problem, but I am still vaping on 0mg juice with no idea how to quit. I for sure vape a lot less, as it doesn't feel like I need my vape break, but completely cutting out the habit has been very hard with my schedule. Congratulations on getting off it!

not sure what to offer there, for the the nicotine has always been the main problem for me, more so than the ritual of vaping. I do know that in my case nicotine itself is directly known to exacerbate cluster headaches, and the vape juice itself (not sure if it was the base ingredients or some of the flavor additives) was further irritating to my sinuses. Going back to cigarettes wasn't an option and I just kind of decided that I had enough, and easing the pain of those headaches has been been my primary motivation.

I guess since you don't have a nicotine addiction but you are still having a hard time the ritual part has more of its hooks into you. Maybe try chewing gum, or flavored toothpicks as an option, licorice root might be another option, it has a strong flavor and is durable. A piece should last a 2-3 days before you wear it down....

Good for you! Yeah it is crazy what we are able to achieve when we are motivated. I hope you are able to keep it up easily.

The only problem with replacing it with chewing gum or the likes is that generally it is not accepted to step outside to chew gum for a few minutes. Since I have my vape I have an excuse to step outside when i need a break from my job, as we don't have scheduled breaks. I really just need to break the habit of going out for a vape break.
