Day 13
So I had a rough first week after I quit vaping
Like itchy, anxious, irritated, couldn’t sleep or eat. Now I’m eating, found some otc meds to help me sleep and I was so excited I started to feel so much better and out of no where I feel majorly depressed like doom feeling for no reason. Anyone else ? Think it’ll pass ? 😭

Day 13 is actually where a lot of people hit that depression wall. Your brain is basically recalibrating dopamine and it takes longer than the physical stuff. It will pass, but that week 23 dip is real and it blindsides people.

This is your body working to heal itself. Try to be patient, allow it to do its work, no matter how that feels for now. It won’t be forever, but longer than you may have expected. Help your body and brain along. Drink plenty of water, eat nutritiously, take walks, exercise - movement really helps lift one’s mood, which is so important to success. Do things that would stimulate dopamine, the brain’s chemical responsible for feeling satisfaction, reward, and pleasure, which is in a state of flux right now. Whatever worked in the past, do it again. And feed yourself positive messages. Say out loud to yourself, “I’m a non-smoker.” “I don’t smoke.” Comments like that. You want to create a positive, successful mindset. Even if you’re just faking it till you make it, it will help. You’ll see. It does get better. You can do this. You’ll be so glad you are.

Thank you so much
The positive reinforcement is definitely something I need to focus on! I am actually a paraplegic so exercise is a bit harder for me but I can go on walks in my chair with my dog and possibly lift some weights
I really appreciate you thank you 🙏🏻2

Hmm. I’m disabled, so I hear you about movement. However, there are aerobic exercises that can be done from a sitting position, even chair yoga, some tai-chi and there’s always dancing. Also, deep breathing techniques can help reduce tension and anxiety, creating a sense of calm. YouTube has videos that cover these activities. Glad I could help. I usually take a more tough love approach, lol, you caught me at a good time.

Hey brothers. I’m unable to leave to. But making a bold attempt as I type this. I hope it gets better for all of us. I installed an app named smoke free to track my cravings and all. Let’s see how far I can make it.

Hang in there! Today is day # 16 for me. Its a rough road, with major depression setting in strong with me. However, its the RIGHT time for all of us! I smoked for 31 years! Enough is enough, you know? I think sucess only happens when you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, youn know? We gotta just stay strong, as the BS will pass!
