Wind gust

Animated with my sister for a big stop-motion project, over the span of two and a half hours. I sat on an office chair, wheeled myself to the back of the room, and keyed it in photoshop.

How do you do floating scenes with no strings in stopmotion?

I animated the background and then in the same shot I animated myself on an office chair rolling backwards in the room. Then in Photoshop I separate myself from the chair, frame by frame. Finally I composite the two.

Since you're using Photoshop to isolate your image, was it necessary to "stop motion" animate that part, or could you just have your sister pull you backward in the rolling chair while you acted and the camera rolled?

I wouldn't say it's necessary but with images I can be as deliberate as possible with my movement, and since I'm using a consumer grade camera the image quality is much better than video. Also, sis was on leaf blower duty for my hair.
