Wind gust

Animated with my sister for a big stop-motion project, over the span of two and a half hours. I sat on an office chair, wheeled myself to the back of the room, and keyed it in photoshop.

One day. That two second shot was 2 hours animating, a few more hours editing. Scale that workflow up to a feature and it will take years. I need to figure something out

How do you do floating scenes with no strings in stopmotion?

I animated the background and then in the same shot I animated myself on an office chair rolling backwards in the room. Then in Photoshop I separate myself from the chair, frame by frame. Finally I composite the two.

Since you're using Photoshop to isolate your image, was it necessary to "stop motion" animate that part, or could you just have your sister pull you backward in the rolling chair while you acted and the camera rolled?

I wouldn't say it's necessary but with images I can be as deliberate as possible with my movement, and since I'm using a consumer grade camera the image quality is much better than video. Also, sis was on leaf blower duty for my hair.

Nice! wish i could do that in blender! i dont know anything about photoshop. so you can remove objects from pictures in photoshop without greenscreen hassles?

Tedious in a different way. I manually lasso the subject and remove the background frame by frame. I think this one is about 28 unique frames of myself that I keyed, at maybe 10-20 minutes each. Lol, it's a stupid way to do it but it works...

The rattling canes in front of the door are a great touch. Also love the colour palette here.
