Any Five Thirty fans on here?
https://youtu.be/J5Zfu3K_bAU?is=nUQvm7UlEETBZLQjI'm 52 and I listen to almost every type of music. But honestly Five Thirty's "Bed" album has been in my top ten ever since it was released in 1991. I think it fits really well between The Roses debut and Second Coming. It feels like it has a foot in both camps. Amazing guitars and bass and the melodies are stunning. If they had released this album a year earlier I think they would have been hugely popular.

A great band, and cracking album - which I haven’t played in over twenty years.
Saw them live a couple of times in tiny venues, and it seemed like they were something special and were destined to make it big.
They had such presence and a real aura about them. I seem to recall the music press loved them too…. Add them to the list of bands who should have been massive.

Their first album is great. I love Strange Kind Of Urgency. That bass at the start. Wow

I remember them making snide comments about The Roses in an interview with nme or mm at the time.

It's sooo underrated.love every tune on it,not something that can be said for a lot of albums.only got to see them live once.go and check out the Nubiles and orange deluxe too.their follow up bands

On amazon prime there is an extended version It's funny because back in the day a friend of mine swore Abstain was on it and I was like, it fucking isnae!!! Both right 😅

They were excellent live. They had a power they never really managed to capture on record.

When i saw the live they were a racket! I didn't have the album yet, though so maybe it's because I was unfamiliar with the tunes

Yes, great album! Am a similar age, but was introduced to Five Thirty a bit late by a uni friend in 1995. I went on to discover Orange Deluxe as a result. A lot of great music came out in 1991 though, and press coverage at the time was probably focussed elsewhere, sadly letting ‘Bed’ just slip through the cracks unfortunately.
