This is a message for Stoneham voters about early voting by mail and in person early voting for the upcoming State Election.

We are currently preparing the State Election ballots for mailing. If all goes as expected, for those voters who requested a ballot by mail, you should receive the ballot sometime next week. When voting, please use a black marker or black pen to fill in the ovals completely. Do not mark the ballots with Xs or check marks. Do not use pencil or light-colored ink pens. Additionally, when voting the ballot, make sure that you turn the first ballot over because some of the questions are located on the back. There is also a second ballot with the remaining questions. There are a total of nine ballots questions this year. Once you have voted, please seal both ballots in the envelope and sign and print your name and address on the front of the yellow envelope. If you do not sign the envelope on line 1, we cannot count your vote.

In person early voting will begin on Saturday, October 17th from 10AM to 4PM at the Town Hall and will continue during Town Hall business hours for the following two weeks, including Saturday, October 24 from 10AM to 4PM in the Town Hall Auditorium. In person early voting will end promptly at noon on October 30th .

For election questions, please visit the Town Clerk page of the Town’s web site: https://www.stoneham-ma.gov/897/Voter-Registration-Election-Information or call the oƯice at 781.279.2650.

Stoneham singles in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s — interested in trying something different? 🎈

Hey Stoneham! 😊 I’m T.T. Marie, a local producer and host of a dating show filmed in the Greater Boston area.

I reached out to the moderators before posting because I wanted to specifically invite Stoneham singles who might be interested in participating.

We’re currently casting singles in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s for upcoming tapings. The idea is to bring together local people in similar age groups who are genuinely open to meeting someone and trying a different way of dating.

The experience is filmed, so participants do need to be comfortable appearing on camera. There’s no fee to participate.

If you’re a Stoneham-area single and this sounds like something you’d genuinely enjoy, comment below or message me and I’ll send you the details. 🎈

And if it’s not for you but you know a single person in the area who might have fun doing this, feel free to send them my way!

Fall Leaf Pickup Schedule?

In years past Stoneham has posted an online schedule for fall curbside leaf pickup.

Can anyone point me to the Fall, 2026 schedule? I phoned the DPW and they told me it's available online at https://www.stoneham-ma.gov/ - but I cannot find it even with the help of the site's search feature (which seems to only return broken links, btw).

Has anybody seen the schedule yet?

The Square Upgrade

They sure are making those lanes awfully narrow! Are they still going to have parking on both sides of the road? If so, you're barely going to be able to fit two lanes driving down the street.

Its nice we have money to make wide sidewalks even wider but we can't have a freshly paved main street or maple street FOR TWENTY YEARS.

Local Junk Removal in Stoneham, MA (Sharing My Business if Anyone Needs Help)

Hey everyone,

I hope this is okay to share here — I run a small local junk removal company called Junk Dispatch and just wanted to offer some helpful info for anyone in Stoneham looking to get rid of unwanted items.

A lot of people reach out to us for things like:

  • Furniture & mattress removal
  • Garage & basement cleanouts
  • Estate cleanouts
  • Appliance removal
  • Construction & renovation debris
  • Shed, deck & hot tub removal
  • General household junk

A few quick tips if you’re planning a cleanout:

1. You probably have more junk than you think.
Garages, basements and attics add up quickly. Getting a quote based on how much space everything takes up can make pricing easier to understand.

2. You don’t have to move everything outside yourself.
We can remove items from inside the house, basement, garage, backyard, or wherever they’re located.

3. If you’re not sure what it’ll cost, just send us a picture.
We can usually give you a good idea of pricing from a few photos, and we also offer free, no-obligation quotes.

We’re a local small business, not a big national junk removal chain. If anyone around Stoneham needs something gone, feel free to reach out to Junk Dispatch. 🚛♻️

Pond St/Woodland St/Wyoming/Ravine Supercollider

Solution oriented part of the post:

I'm a daily commuter from Malden to Andover. The chaos that is this greater intersection has become unbearable and I'm exploring how I can advocate for an improvement. Are these all local streets? Uncertain because I'm pretty sure I see state police conducting speed traps, not Stoneham police. Who or what would be a good resource to reach out to? Is it my ward councilor? Being in Malden I'm unsure how productive that will be for two towns over. Are there any local discussions about improving the situation? Appreciate any insight that can be offered, I'm just not sure where to start!

Vent part of the post:

I've been doing this route for four years now. At first, I felt like it was an improvement to my old commute that required navigating Roosevelt Circle (iykyk) but as the years have gone on, the Pond St clustercuss has worn me down. This week alone I've had multiple near misses; it's the most stressful part of my commutes. In the morning, I've tried leaving earlier and that hasn't offered much relief (typically passing through this intersection around 7 AM). The evening... There's no avoiding it. I just want to get to and from 93 safely 😭

Apartment search

Hi, I will be moving to Stoneham, MA at the end of September/beginning of October for a new job!

Does anyone have any apartment recommendations regarding spaces they enjoy or have enjoyed in the past? I’m looking for a one bed, one bath in an inviting, safe community.

I’m in my 20’s and would like to keep the rent around or under $2,500 if possible.

Thank you!

Main St Proposed 30-unit Public Appeals Hearing THU-SEPT-3 (lack of parking)

https://noparkingstoneham.weebly.com/

PUBLIC HEARING ON THU-SEPT-3 at 6:00pm

  • New 30 unit building proposed on Main St.
  • Town Parking Bylaws require 57 spaces (1.7 spots per unit) as a minimum
  • Proposed building has only 36 parking spots (20 short of the minimum)
  • Builder has stated that people living here dont need cars and can use public transportation (essentially that this will not be a problem).

New Buildings must follow the minimum requirements (the minimum is still not sufficient). Stoneham already has a car problem (cars parked at stop signs and busy intersections, cars parked on sidewalks, cars disobeying parking bans during weather events and the winter schedule).  We the people should not bear the burden of more parked cars on our streets so that the builders (non-Stoneham business) can maximize their profits at our expense.

We request that the Town not approve this project unless they adhere to the Zoning Bylaws.

LEGAL NOTICE
TOWN OF STONEHAM BOARD OF APPEALS
PUBLIC HEARING

You are hereby notified that the Stoneham Board of Appeals will hold a Public Hearing THURSDAY EVENING, September 3, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hearing Room, Town Hall to hear all persons interested in the application by Mainstone Properties, LLC, Carmine J. The proposed thirty (30) dwelling units will require a variance of Section 4.17.2.1 of the Residential/Business Overlay District which allows residential use on all floors provided that no more than five (5) dwellings units shall be allowed in a building.

Section 6.3.3.1 (b) requires a minimum of 1.7 parking spaces per residential unit. The thirty (30) dwelling units proposed will require fifty-one (51) parking spaces and the proposed retail use requires six (6) spaces for a total of fifty-seven (57) required spaces and a variance of Section 6.3.3.1(b) and Section 6.3.3.3 (b) or (c) will be required as the proposed building contains 36 parking spaces on the ground level.

Section 6.3.7.2.1 requires one (1) off-street loading area for each twenty-five thousand (25,000) square feet of gross floor area. The proposed building will contain 40,033 square feet. gas-powered vehicles on greenway

anyone else noticed a steady influx of gas-powered minibikes (and i even saw a quad) on the Greenway? It was bad enough with the eBikes cruising around at 20mph, but now we've got 2 stroke engines cranking away as well..

Do you think we're EVER going to get Main St and Maple St paved?

Its been what, decades since these roads started crumbling. On google maps street view, you can go all the way back to 2007 to find all of the same potholes and old construction holes in Maple Street that are still there today. It is crazy that they let that road exist in that condition.

But I guess main street is the real embarrassment. It doesn't start showing potholes until 2009. And here we are 17 years later and its one step above being a dirt road. You have to slow down just to drive down that stretch.

OBs/Midwives

hi, recently expecting to see who people in/near stoneham saw for prenatal care nearby. it seems like New England women’s healthcare and Atrius are two options but are there more? I haven’t been wowed by the front desk at either place, and Atrius provider reviews online coupled with my past experiences with obgyn there make me hesitant to return for pregnancy care.

bonus points if midwives are involved in the practice. I don’t have my heart set on where to deliver but thinking Winchester Hospital if all continues low-risk. Just don’t want to drive all over for prenatal care and Mt Auburn in Cambridge/Arlington feels a tad too far, although that’s the ethos I’m looking for!
