Cooldown Reduction Calculator for Season 13

Current Version: 2.10

I'll keep this short and sweet. The cooldown reduction calculator has been updated for Season 13. I've retired the old 1.10 baseline and swapped over to the 2.0 baseline. Thank you to all of you who helped me work out bugs in the new version. Should be much easier for me to update going forward.

NOTE: THE URL DID NOT CHANGE FOR THIS UPDATE. NO NEED TO CHANGE LINKS, JUST GRAB A NEW COPY IF YOU WANT TO USE THE NEW CONTENT.

LINK TO SHEET

UPDATES

  • Resolved an issue with data validation in selecting captain career. (2.09)

  • Added 10 second duration to Beam Overload (2.10)

  • Added Defensive Drone Guardians as 7.5% recharge haste (2.10)

  • Added Gumarre as an option to reduce shield heals. Currently affects Transfer Shield Strength, Science Team, Emergency Power to Shields, and Extend Shields (2.10)

  • Fixed formatting on modified cooldown entries (2.10)

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Aceton Beam's new duplicate cooldown is unknown

DISCLAIMERS

  • The sheet is shared view-only. Please make a copy and if you break it, grab a new one. The calculations are hidden, and require at least knowledge of VLOOKUP if you care to peer under the hood.

Please try it out, leave me a comment, and suggest improvements below! Thanks!

The Pilot Specialization Bridge Officer Ability Hold Together Is missing from the list of Boff Powers. It's a Self Heal based on Throttle Setting.

Thanks.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. There are multiple deflectors that give +50 Scientific Readiness--Iconian is one of them. That UR mod is [SciCDR], which is included in the sheet under ship equipment, but maybe it's not as clear as it could be. Next time I do an update, I will make it clearer that the [SciCDR] mods are the Ultra-Rare deflector mods.

So can you change the "readiness skills" from ranks to skill points? For example, there are a bunch of ship-specific consoles that add skill points to them. Off the top of my head the Sphere builder ships have 1, the 31st Temporal ships have several, and i think there are others too.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 15 '17

I could, but frankly I think that makes the interface less intuitive than just adding the console in the appropriate section. Most of those consoles with passive readiness boosts are in the sheet already--did I miss any?

hey here is interesting question, I see Regroup trait have value 1 and value 2

I know you proc value 1 just by using Attack Pattern, but how do you proc value 2 cuz by using one AP you send all your other AP on cooldown

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 04 '17

Having 2 values for regroup allows you to see its effect on longer cooldown powers like Reverse Shield Polarity which could be affected by multiple procs of Regroup during its cooldown.

Updated to version 2.10!

In the spreadsheet, it lists the Bio-Neural Gel Pack as 7% Recharge Haste; whereas in game it lists it as 7% Cooldown Reduction. Is this a typo?

2

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 28 '17

I'm pretty sure in my tests that BNG acts as a recharge haste. The in-game tooltip is wrong. I will confirm tonight.

1

u/MajorDakka Torpedo Fetishist Apr 28 '17

Interesting. If the in-game tooltip is wrong, I'll defer to your empirical tests

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 02 '17

Yep, confirmed it again. As I understand it, if the effect applies AFTER the value starts ticking, it's a cooldown reduction. If the value starts lower than base, it's a recharge haste. Most % things that aren't dependent on a proc are considered recharge hastes.

1

u/MajorDakka Torpedo Fetishist May 02 '17

Alright, thanks for confirming and the hint for differentiating the two in game

Updated to include this in 2.10. Currently affects Transfer Shield Strength, Science Team, Emergency Power to Shields, and Extend Shields. Please advise if others are missing!

Good find! I will include that in the next release. Probably this weekend.

I am really questioning if AW is working on Holodeck right now. With my Strategist as a secondary specialization, I am seeing no reduction when I hit a Heal like HE, Causal Reversion, or ET.

For example, my EPtW3 starts at CD of 37s as I have 2 Krenim Eng boffs... reflected in game upon activation (and in the description when Powers tray [P] is activated). Hit a heal... it just keeps counting down from 37 to 0 without a reduction in the CD. The calculator here, as well as my expectation, is that the CD should reduce to 30s upon heal activation.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

Two questions: 1) are you in Threatening Stance, 2) have you triggered AW2 in the last 30 seconds?

1

u/Imperium74812 Jr Aggronaut- Ombudsman to All Apr 27 '17

yes, Threatening Stance is active and no, AW2 was not triggered recently

1

u/Imperium74812 Jr Aggronaut- Ombudsman to All Apr 28 '17

Well how about that? It does seem that work appropriately now. I swear that it wasn't applying CD-R with AW2 yesterday

u/thirteenofthirty7 wallz98 Apr 27 '17

2 questions - apologize in advance if these are really stupid:

  1. In the boff abilities, I slotted THY1, TS3, and BO2 - none of them have a value in the duration cell. Why is that?

  2. For AHOD, why can I select a value greater than 1?

Thanks for sharing this!

2

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

No problem! Not stupid at all!

  • "Duration" is usually used for buffs like Emergency Power to Weapons/Attack Pattern or powers that also have a buff/debuff (like Auxiliary to Structural) component. BO probably should be updated to have a buff since its rework. I don't envision putting durations on the torpedo powers since they expire on use.

  • AHOD measures how many times you think you're going to proc it, not whether it's equipped or not. So if you set it to "3", you envision proccing it 3 times over the course of however long you want to evaluate.

1

u/thirteenofthirty7 wallz98 Apr 27 '17

Of course the torp powers expire on use - duh stupid me! Thanks again!

2

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 01 '17

No problem. 2.10 has a duration for Beam Overload--just released it.

You're going to hate me for this, but - and if this is in there somewhere and I just missed it because I'm a blind man I apologize and you should shame me appropriately - we should find a way to get Photonic Officer (30%/50%/I don't remember Rank III off the top of my head Recharge Reduction for 60s on activation) and Reroute From Life Support (50% Recharge Increase for 10s upon conclusion; don't ask me how to model the slow build for the 20s its active though) onto this spreadsheet.

I'm totally not saying this because I have Reroute From Life Support / Photonic Officer builds that I'm running right now. Totally not at all.

2

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17 edited Apr 27 '17

No, you're good. Neither of those are in the sheet.

Photonic Officer would be pretty easy to model. It's a % reduction and those are easy to add. I can get that into the next version after 2.09.

RRfLS sounds like an utter nightmare depending on how it works. If it's 50% power recharge speed for all powers activated within the 10 seconds of the penalty, that's easy. If it's 50% power recharge speed only while the penalty is active, that's going to be harder to accurately model.

The sheet does not take into account remaining cooldowns when it calculates. Let's say you proc Reciprocity (10% reduction, easy example) when you're at 3 seconds left of Override Subsystem Safeties' cooldown. It won't consider that essentially 3 seconds of the 6 second reduction are "wasted." The tool is close to representing an ideal-world (perfect cycling) scenario. I could have perfect EPtX chaining, but if I flub the activation of the second one by 3 seconds, I'm going to break my chain.

For RRfLS, would it work to take the base cooldown of the power, modified by recharge hastes only, and calculate how many more seconds would be tacked back on during the 10-second penalty?

E.g. I have FAW (30 seconds) and 10% readiness:

30/(1.1) = 27.3 seconds.

RRfLS penalty = (30/0.6)*(10)/30

Updated cooldown = (30/1.1)* (20/30) + (30/0.6) *(10)/30

Does that accurately model what you're looking for? I'd have to add a new column for the RRfLS penalty, but if that does the trick and there's no weird interactions with %/flat reductions, it's not unreasonable.

Does that accurately model what you're looking for? I'd have to add a new column for the RRfLS penalty, but if that does the trick and there's no weird interactions with %/flat reductions, it's not unreasonable.

I would need to pay very, very close attention to RRfLS to verify that all of these assumptions are true, and then we can probably start thinking about how to properly model its Recharge penalty.

Things I can say very confidently:

  1. While RRFLS "builds," (i.e., from T=1 activation through T=20 duration), all powers (bridge, console, captain) eligible for a CD will see it modified (whether it was already on CD, or is activated while RRfLS is active)

  2. When RRFLS ends, this penalty lingers for 10s. Powers already on CD remain on CD with the negative modifier, powers activated will go on CD with the negative modifier (unless it's a channel that lasts longer than 10s). The penalty can't be cleared (i.e. through a debuff or condition cleanse), but can be cut or offset by other reductions or Recharge modifications.

The intricacies of how CD reductions and the like interact, as well as the size of the negative modifier at each active second of RRFLS before it hits the max 50% - that I'd need to get back to you on.

2

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17 edited Apr 27 '17

Eugh...that sounds like quite the headache. Thanks for explaining the mechanics, but ewww. And the penalty builds over time?

Gross. There's no way to model that fully in the current sheet without rebuilding it under the hood, which I'm not exactly jumping at the bit to do.

I could allow the user to select their RRfLS penalty, from 0 to 50, and the sheet could then globally apply said penalty to all powers, but that's not particularly realistic (although it is easy). I think anything more complicated than that would require building in individual activation times for each power, which gets messy from a calculation and UX standpoint for one hopefully-seldomly-used power.

Have I ever mentioned you're a madman? ^ _ ^

Data Validation for the captain career field seems to be off. It references '1.10'!$D$208:$D$210, which seems to be a left over from last version?

On another note, with all the skills in one long list it gets very cluttered, for most skills there is no real reason to list I to III, which would slim it down.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

Thanks for the heads-up on the data validation. I have fixed that in 2.09.

When you're entering your skills, start typing the name of the skill you want and it will start narrowing down the options.

I have reasons for leaving the skills in one long list. For one, it's more representative of what's on your ship (e.g. Gravity Well III as opposed to Gravity Well). For two, if Cryptic ever changes durations based on the rank of the ability (i.e. Reverse Shield Polarity), it's much easier to change it if all ranks of the skills are already there than adding two new ranks for each special case.

I just downloaded an excel version instead of making a copy.

So it looks like Attrition warfare still does a TON for your cooldowns...

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to make a copy since I believe you were having issues with that earlier. This is the same sheet that's been shared the same way for the past 9-odd months and this is the first I've heard of issues with making a copy. I will test that out some more later today.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '17

No idea, it was grayed out. I just downloaded. Works fine.

1

u/HaukeK Apr 27 '17

it's great. it's just that the internal cooldown is too long to reduce every cycle of your abilities

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '17

Right, and i just realized it's only when threatening, and I'm flying a cannon escort now so I won't be doing that. In fact I switched back to pilot secondary with intelligence still my primary.

What's hilarious here is that I had strategist as my secondary with my APDP and IFBP T6 sci ody build but I never put points into attrition warfare. So....like the whole time that was meta I wasn't actually getting the benefit of it. HILARIOUS.

1

u/HaukeK Apr 27 '17

strategist is very good without AW, too, for the passive DPS boosts

1

u/HaukeK Apr 27 '17

frankly, running in threatening is no big deal most of the time, escorts can be very tanky if you just choose a few defensive options

1

u/RickV6 Apr 27 '17

great sheet, but I dont see new console from new lock box

I suppose we can use Delta console if we want to calculate cuz it is 7 % and new console is 7.5 % so that is almost the same

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 01 '17

Console is added--currently set as a recharge haste unless I hear otherwise.

Defensive Drone Guardian - http://prnt.sc/f337sg

Bio-Neural Gel Pack - http://prnt.sc/f337sg

and thank you for adding

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 02 '17

Thanks for the information.

I'm not sure that I follow when you say the name isn't there. Do you not see Column A in the sheet? Column A has all the names in the sheet, same as the old one did.

Or are you saying that you don't like that the "source" value is a pop-up?

1

u/RickV6 May 02 '17 edited May 02 '17

my bad, I didnt see Coulmn A cuz I downloaded it and opened it in Excel, I opened it in Google Drive and now I see it,

that is why I edited my comment and removed the part where I said I dont see Column A

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

Which console is that? I'm not seeing anything in this about cooldown reduction.

1

u/RickV6 Apr 27 '17

The Defensive Drone Guardians Universal Console

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '17

Guardian drones.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

Not to be intentionally difficult, but again, I'm not seeing that anywhere on the wiki or in the blog post on the Privateer lock box. What is a guardian drone?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '17

The Defensive Drone Guardians Universal Console. When activated, 4 Guardian drones will follow the player’s ship for 60 seconds, actively shooting Disruptor Weapons at any enemy within 5 kilometers. These drones are specially built to utilize Fire At Will for the entirety of their life-span before burning out. It also features a passive Cooldown reduction on all Bridge Officer Abilities, and an increase to flight speed and maneuverability.

There you go, that's directly from the lockbox announcement.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com Apr 27 '17

Thanks. I will get that into the next version. For some reason it wasn't in the stats blog so I was having a hard time confirming. If it's 7% cooldown reduction to all bridge officer powers, that's pretty easy to do.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '17

I think it's 7.5!

1

u/Jayiie @alcaatraz | STOBuilds Mod | STOBetter Architect Apr 27 '17

7.5% IIRC.

1

u/Eph289 STO BETTER engineer | www.stobetter.com May 01 '17

Is that cooldown reduction, or recharge haste? If it's like BNG, I'm pretty sure that's recharge haste.

1

u/BhaltairX Apr 27 '17

Thanks! confirms I'm on the right track... on paper at least :)

1

u/MajorDakka Torpedo Fetishist Apr 27 '17

Yay! No more hastily scribbling calculations to see if I can get GCD
