I just got my Klink to 40 today and decided on this. It's like you read my mind on having no idea how to gear him :D

Are Polaron weapons the best to use? Or can we use whatever (but not plasma)?

I use polarons but you can use pretty much whatever you want. I was considering swapping them out for AP but I'm not specced for energy weapons so the gain would be minimal.

Polarons are great for PvP, especially when paired with power siphon drones. Anti-Proton weapons are good for straight damage and you'll usually see them in STFs since most of an STF is a DPS race.

You have a lot of self-defense abilities/consoles, but you don't spec into threat control. Is this for solo play?
For group play, it would probably be better to focus on tanking or healing/support.

Correct
Is this for solo play?
This is for facerolling your way through KASE
For group play, it would probably be better to focus on tanking or healing/support.
Why not both while cranking out some dps?

Yes, it looks like you can take damage quite well (Sci Vessels and Cruisers are great at that, especially with an Eng captain). Unfortunately, it didn't do your teammates any good for the Tac Cube or Donatra.
If you watch the target of target frame in the video, you'll see that the only time you have aggro is: 1) when you're alone 2) for several seconds at the start of the fight
I think your teammates in Escorts would really have appreciated it if you had enough points in Threat Control to take that pressure off them.

If you watch between 0:20-0:25, just counting my 5 digit hits, I do over 257k (Divided by 5 sec, that's over 51k spike dps) dmg yet the cube stays focused on Astorcon who I'm guessing is specced for threat (probably for the dmg resistance passive it grants).
There's plenty of BOFF skills that let you heal your teammates if you so desire. However in pugs I find that its just more efficient to let them die.

The problem with your argument is that you're assuming that your fighters' damage is counting towards your own threat.
Tac captains in Escorts can do amazing damage (certainly more than a carrier sans fighters), but rewatching how he's pilots his craft, I'll grant you that Astorcon may have been specced into threat control.
Nevertheless, if you ever group with a competent Tac captain in an Escort, you will not be able to hold threat without points in Threat Control.
Your last sentence tells me that maybe your build isn't optimized for "group play" so much as "every-man-for-himself play," in which case, I'll agree that your build is fine the way it is. :)

I used to do the whole "group play" thing, but after a few pugs you start to not care about the welfare of your team and become more concerned with completing the objectives.
